  1. How are you wording emails asking if profs have room for a research assistant??? I just realized I don't know how professional to make this. My masters is going to be in Cultural Studies, but I'm stuck on how to word? Like a cover letter? A proposal? A litte note asking if there's any room before I go into too much depth? Help!
  2. That's how I feel everyday since January 15th lol
  3. Yeah, I'm in a similar situation in that what is reflected as my major with probably change but I've literally not changed anything about classes I've taken, interests, or GPA. I am not going to tell anyone until I'm admitted (if so), and then if it's a problem I'll deal with it. I wouldn't tell them anything in your situation.
  4. lol @ fluffed, I'll go with that. Oh no, I've read everything POI has ever even thought about writing, even unpublished articles and papers haha. It's the rest of the department I'm worried about!
  5. I am so happy for you, that you were able to come back and make such a glowing return! I wish you the absolute best!! That being said, mine is a chump compared to yours but... I pretty much faked an interest in a field to work with a POI I've been working with for a while and I just learned that program requires interviews. While my POI is a pretty informal person, I am TERRIFIED that I will end up, quite undeservedly, getting an interview and literally have nothing to say to the field. The POI is oddly placed in this program, and this specific program does have a pretty interdisciplinary twist (which is how I was introduced to it), but I will be completely horrified if I get in an interview because 1) I will pretty much know it's the "who you know, not what" thing at play and 2) I'll have to bullshit through a phd interview, which does not sound like a good afternoon. Again, so happy for you, and mine sucks in comparison but I'm losing sleep over it and the whole effing process. Good luck!
  6. Well it's all inclusive whiteness, so everything involved in everything needs to be destroyed. Woo! I'm excited, humans!
  7. lol, imo that can be summed up in two words: white people. In which case, that was EXACTLY what I was thinking and am looking for a sign up sheet.
  8. Literally as I was writing it, I refreshed three times. But I entertained the idea after doing minimal research and finding that, as suspected, Harvard didn't offer a phd in "Rocket Science" lol
  9. I didn't! But I suppose I could report a similar experience, those who know me understand. To outsiders, perhaps it's not as hilarious as we think it is hahaha (but obv they're wrong)
  10. diermh, I contacted the UCI Drama department today and he said that committee members will contact who they're interested in for interviews by late February, otherwise "official letters" (meaning rejections) will be sent out in late March/early April. Perhaps the two schools are on similar timelines?
  11. oh goodness me, that is EFFING BRILLIANT hahahaaha. Automatic acceptance everywhere.
  12. I elect koolherc to Berkeley's Rhetoric program for that and revolution post.
  13. Depends what we're talking, but I think I'm on board.
  14. I lol'd, bythesea
  15. hahahaha, I really love every time someone posts these. Always good
