One of my recommenders is in another country. I want to send him a card and a small gift for his desk, but I don't have his address. Well, I do have his office address (corporate), but I'm apprehensive about sending it there unannounced because it may be uncomfortable for him... Did anyone use a personal address for their recommenders? How does one go about asking for an address while avoiding the entire "oh you don't have to send me anything!" thing?

I can't believe I had to go to the last page in this section to find the thread for NYU! I see you both chose NYU from the time you posted here last =)

I'm guessing the last line was meant to be "As we are not able to release any information until all decisions have been finalised." Maybe the early April acceptances last year were results from the second application deadline, so if you applied by the final deadline, mid-May might well be the first wave of decisions for that deadline.

It seems like grad students are limited to WSV and Alumni Hall. But yeah, such an unhelpful website! And it seems like there are no single rooms in WSV??

I'm trying to choose between finding an apartment and student housing. On-campus housing is prohibitively expensive :/ and besides price, it seems like one can find a nicer place off-campus if one looks hard and long enough... but the convenience and the prospect of an less stressful move is tempting. @svh, have you decided on which residence hall to apply to?

I wish. Followed by "Are you sure?? But it's an Ivy League school!" -

"Why didn't you apply to Columbia?" Sigh. Maybe because Columbia doesn't have what I want to study? -
Very fortuitous timing... I'm off hiking for ten days tomorrow. Was worried that I'd be constantly fretting about what might or might not be in my inbox waiting for me -- now it's my celebration!

Yup, that was me!I've been half panicking myself since nobody else has posted on the results board :S My acceptance email gave me a NetID, logged into Albert for the first time, and clicked on Admissions Offer. I did apply some days before the deadline -- maybe they're rolling them out this year. Good luck!- 21 replies

"You only applied to ONE program?!?" Just got accepted! No longer need to defend myself from incredulous looks/questions! -

This will be a good week. Say it with me.
-hermes- replied to We regret to inform you's topic in Waiting it Out
This will be a good week. This will be a GREAT week. Best. week. ever. I will be accepted. I will be accepted. I will be accepted. ...that actually felt pretty good. And a little odd, it's the middle of the night here, and as I typed this post birds started chirping outside my window. -
How many times a minute do you refresh your email?
-hermes- replied to icthere's topic in Waiting it Out
I'm actually surprised to say I haven't been frantically refreshing my inbox at all. I have push notifications set up on my iPhone, so I never really log into the website to check my email. But I'm now at a point where I'm starting to freak out each time I hear the new mail notification sound. It's this 'oh my god the moment of judgement has arrived' feeling over and over again. -
Help me pick which intro to use!
-hermes- replied to isawstars's topic in Statement of Purpose, Personal History, Diversity
I would prefer Intro 1 if it were more directly related to your desire to study journalism. The way it is right now, all it tells me is that you had a touching experience that convinced you to follow your passion -- which could be anything. Maybe you could hone intro 2 a bit more and then see how you like a more direct approach. -

So glad I'm not the only one who's this oversensitive! I'm starting to actively avoid a couple of friends who demand to know my plans each time we talk. Once *I* know, I'll tell you! -

I go through phases, haha. I don't expect to hear anything until March, so I'm not checking my email or the results survey. But I can't help looking at the forum (and now twitter ) to see what's happening with other folk. Masochistic!

Oh no. Couldn't resist after reading this. I just killed 30 minutes reading tweets. I need a life, lol.
