On their website, the Brown History dept. says they notify students 6 to 8 weeks after the deadline. The deadline was December 1st....I'm going bananas!

My GRE is dismal! Like, in the 78% for verbal, and let's not even talk about the quant. Eek.

I had no contact with NYU prior to the acceptance. Even my POI never replied prior to the application.

I think at this point it's safe to say I did not get into William and Mary. It's a shame too, it was high on my list.

I have an acceptance from NYU and my take it. I'd be moving with my husband and elementary-aged child. What areas are good for families, especially the schools? My husband is a (computer) systems engineer/admin so we won't be living only on my stipend but are not exactly rich either. We are not too concerned with a bit of a commute but definitely don't want to spend an hour getting to work/school every day. My choice would be to live somewhere in Manhattan but I'm OK going further afield if it means better schools, larger apartment.house, etc. Any thoughts?

I refuse to put my work email on my phone. Nope. As for which school I want to hear from next, that'd be Harvard. It was my SUPER reach, I think, and I want to KNOW one way or the other.

So, in the interest of passing time and not getting any work done, what university do you wish would notify you next?

I'm out of up-votes for the day already, but yes. This week has been hellish. Even yesterday, after I heard from NYU I still couldn't get any work done, and I even lost my appetite. I'm hoping today is another day of (hopefully good) news.

Does anyone know if NYU PhD students earn an MA along the way? I can't find anything online, it only says for students who don't pass the quals.

Also, I wanted to add that I had contacted the POI before applying but she never replied. The DGS said the POI was very impressed with my application. I was initially discouraged by her lack of reply.

HOLY CRAP GUYS!!!! I got into NYU! I just got a call from the DGS and they are VERY impressed with my application. They are flying me up in a couple of weekends for the prospective student thing. I am ELATED. It's such a huge weight off my shoulders; I burst into tears when I hung up. I'm still shaking.

That's what I want to believe, but another part of me just says that rejections aren't priority and so they will post later.

It just says "Submitted"

There is a Harvard website rejection on the results so I rushed to check mine. Unless I'm looking in the wrong portal, I don't see anything new.
