That moment when you log in to a school's portal to see the status of the application and suddenly everything there looks different. Your heart skips a bit, or three, thinking a decisions has been made and thus your view or the portal changed. Then you realize it's just an error message because you screwed up the password.
At this point, I'm not dealing very well anymore. I think it's because people in my discipline have started to hear back, including from some schools to which I applied, and I haven't heard anything at all from anyone. I'm obsessively refreshing the survey results, checking statuses online, and looking at my phone every time I get an email. It's quite pathetic.
No, no interview, although they have changed the status of the English proficiency properly on the application checklist. I haven't heard from any program. I'm trying to resist feeling defeated this early on.
Edits: I can't spell today.
An update of my earlier freak out about UPenn requiring English proficiency proof from me: I just spoke to the admissions office, my app is complete and no proof is required. Phew!
MSU was in my initial list of schools to which I wanted to apply, then I cut it out because I didn't feel it was a good enough fit (despite very positive correspondence with POI). What is your area, if you don't mind?
Damn it. I just checked my UPenn application status and under the checklist now says I need to submit English proficiency proof. WTH? I am not an international student, and all my degrees are from American universities. According to them my application is not complete. I'm freaking out.
People in my discipline have started to hear back from various schools, so last night I dreamed I got accepted to UPenn and the Harvard POI contacted me about an interview. At least it wasn't a nightmare!
