Fear not my friend, for any person regardless of their, race, gender, creed, color, religion, political affiliation, social status, financial status, facebook status, personal hygiene status ... are welcomed here ... unless of course they are Swiss or a member of the western Branch of American Reform Presbylutheranism, then eff em

Then to turn this argument around to a point I made previously: what's the excuse for private schools w/their own private endowments? Why are they following this trend? I can understand (SOMEWHAT the rationale & logic behind the state governments) but from say a Princeton or Harvard or Columbia perspective, I can't see why they would want to lower their cohort sizes. BTW I would never rip you for stating your views and I would certainly not expect anyone else on here to do that. We all have crazy ideas of our own but I think we are in a somewhat safe, academic (using the term loosely here folks) setting, where we encourage the sharing and exchange of ideas. As long as you aren't rude or hateful of someone else's beliefs, then I think it's all fair game

viewpoints are nice and dandy but to me personalities matter more ... if you are one of those people who refuses to accept someone else's take on something and just have to argue for argue sake then clearly you are going to be a terrible class mate ... and what is this "grad seminar" speak of?

the ONLY problem I can see with fewer peers is that it becomes a crap shoot if you're stuck w/only 3 or 4 other people in your subfield in total and 75% of your subfield are total a-holes whom you can't stand ... and now unless you're into that kind of sadism ... that would be the pits ... otherwise a smaller subfield can be quite intimate I would think

Well if anyone here wins let us know & if you're shy the PM works

WOW ... fascinating read .... on an unrelated note, I have notified the Chronicle about the abuse of your privileges!

Not to be nosy or anything but did anyone on here get a Ford Fellowship?
-
It doesn't have to be ... we can ALL reject our accepted places and just do this ALL over again next year! No?

Yes those are ALL the faces I made whenever an NCO told me something ... and it wasn't necessarily in that order but those were the stages I went through

Well once you drop the name Milhouse then I know you are a sage ... so go ahead and share this knowledge with wide open forum I say

Man of the world you might just want to post the whole darn thing on here so people stop asking you to PM them

I know this thread is from a year ago BUT ... Go Noles!

Madame please do not torment me so! The pearls of wisdom you have delivered is worth more than the combined weight of all the rhodium in the universe. To deny future generations the knowledge that is within is not only a crime but it is an injustice and in the eloquent of my fraternal brother Martin Luther King, "injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere" therefore please consider it your sacred duty to return to keep an eye out for those who will attempt to traverse and travail the pitfalls that can befall you when attempting to apply to grad school

Hey lady! We've been waiting on ya

My NCOs always use to tell me that "as long as you throw in with all due respect" and a "sir/ma'am" you'll be fine

Well today has been the definition of a lazy Saturday ... all the regulars are long gone ... and don't worry TMP I'll be here till the fall ... gotta see if the mythical StrangeLight will deign to bless the cohort of 2013 as much as she blessed this year's crop ... if only for that ... I will still be here my friend

You are very welcome ... and just remember this whole thing is a crazy process so don't ever let one thing or person get you down ... it can happen on your first go at age 21 or it might take you a few years (HOPEFULLY NOT) but never give up hope if this is what you truly want to do! -
in my defense I was keeping a running tally of the times I posted and I thought I was WAY under the number, so clearly either my math skills are abysmal (Ha! I am a LIBERAL arts student that is IMPOSSIBLE) or the algorithm for calculating the numbers are jacked up ... and yes I know I made the same claims last time ... BUT THIS TIME I am certain the admins will be issuing a retraction anyday now ... and don't BG your day will come ... soon ... very soon ... very very soon ... mwhahahahaha!

it's the witching hour junior ... better turn off the light and go to sleep ... time for me to slip into my velvet smoking jacket ... pour out some apple juice into my brandy decanter and some courvoisier for the lady ... maybe a little Harold Melvins and the Blue Notes or some Teddy P if she's game ... dim the lights and now let's enjoy the late night conversation!

WITH A WOMAN .... good lord people ... this isn't going to be 9th grade all over again

here is how you should feel (seeing as I've been #2 for the second month in a damn row ... I NEED to come off of this list) ... you should feel a sense of shame ... a sense of 'WHY ME' ... a sense of 'eff it' ... then a sense of 'haters goin hate' ... then sense of 'hey, that is interesting, I'm going to reply back to that comment' ... and the cycle goes on and on ... like the ouroboros
