  1. I would be screaming on the inside . Great job!
  2. My family's main interest appears to be whether or not I heard anything from the one Ivy that I applied to.
  3. I would say that about half the schools I applied to I only listed/mentioned one POI. It's not that there wasn't anyone else whose work I was interested in, it's just that I wasn't interested in it enough to want to attend the program if they were not interested in me.
  4. If nothing else I'll enjoy my weekend more (knowing that I don't have to worry about this anymore)
  5. That was completely by accident . Kind of like when I play knock-hockey and score self goals. Oops! But thanks. I ended up just scheduling it for tomorrow. I tend to over prepare. This way I will enjoy my weekend much more knowing that one way or another it is over with.
  6. I decided to just go with the flow, and try and arrange for it to happen as soon as possible.
  7. I posted this in another forum as well, but I would like to get as many different responders as possible, so I am reposting it. I was wondering what people thought of the following: I was just contacted by a POI asking whether we could get in touch for a phone interview sometime this week. I theoretically could, but I would really like a couple of days to brush up on the program and the POI's research. Would it be bad form for me to suggest that we do it next week on Monday? Thanks

  9. A friends husband started his position at a community college in his 50s (though he had previously taught as a lecturer for years) and is now up for tenure at age 60.
  10. I think these days the Gre gives you the option to only send out your highest score, so because of that alone it may be with while to retake it. It seems like you took the old version. In my opinion it seems that the new version is friendlier to those who English is not their mother tongue (I grew up abroad with American parents so my English is pretty decent even though my vocabulary is lacking. When I took the exam I studied for both, but did awful on the old version so I took the new one. I did really well). That being said if you have done a lot of research and you did well in school I think you could have a chance. I think it would mostly depend on whether there were specific professor who you wanted tO work with, and your work was informed by theirs. I think if you could establish a relationship with them by demonstrating you knowledge of their work (and how it relates to yours) you could have a real chance.
  11. I am a USA applicant and I received an email, not a phone call. I would not appreciate a surprise phone call. Not. I hope to get at least two more interviews, and I really hope I am notified about all of them by email. If I wanted to make split second life altering decisions I would have become a trauma surgeon...
  12. Check the individual CUNY schools, or the CUNY Grad Center. I think their tuition is about $8,000 a year, give or take.
  13. Yes. Red wine goes with everything. Pizza, ice cream, pickles, anything. My favorite these days is Yiron produced by the Israeli Harey Galil winery.
  14. Feel free to send me a message and I'd be happy to discuss
  15. I decided I apply to one Ivy league management program after a positive response from a POI (since I liked her work), but the other 9 programs I applied to were various social psyc.
