  6. There's not even a "feels like" about it. Everything is on hold until 4/15 at the earliest. I'm taking a couple "booster classes," so I don't have to take them in grad school. My partner's being amazing about everything. That's it for passing the time, though. I can't commit to anything else without decisions.
  7. That's horrible. I'd be analyzing it for the entire weekend for any type of clue.
  8. That sounds like something that would happen to me, lol.

  10. My application says that too, and I still got an email from one of the professors with whom I was corresponding. I received a letter too, about two weeks after the email.

  12. It's worked the same for rejections last year. Just a link that said a decision was made that takes you to a rejection letter.
  13. I got my decision about two weeks after the deadline. I have to locate an advisor myself or they cancel the acceptance, though. I think this is just the MEES program that does this - since there's no TA option available through them. I suppose it could be a weeding policy, but it strikes me as one that would annoy faculty. Anyway, just posting this as something else that could potentially happen.
  14. Yeah, I get that from a surprising number of people (even other scientists). Somebody's gotta do earthquakes/seismology, volcanoes, ocean sciences, glaciers, planetary science, and land morphology, though. Never mind those other underground things (minerals, aquifers, fossils...). Sorry, I really love the variety my field offers.
  15. I'm gonna go with that until someone proves me wrong. I'm a winner.
  16. Lol. There is that joke: PhD = post-hole digger. I promise we're not all miners, though.
  17. You do have a point for geosciences, but there are probably more of us here than you think. In general it seems to be a very slow trickle of results overall. I said this on another post too, that one school to which I applied has exactly one result posted this year, for any department.

  19. N89, good plans. In general, I'd advise anyone in any field to take Calculus and Stats, just for the understanding of change and probability. Whether or not you're doing a plan B, understanding maths will always be good for you. That said, I think it's far too early to be assuming rejection. Save that for April.
  20. That about sums it up, though I think some schools/departments just take their time in general.
  21. Congrats, ak48. It's weird, it seems like the schools I applied to are exactly the ones that never show up in the results. Sometimes here and there for an MA or something, but nothing suggesting that their admissions departments are actually releasing decisions at all. I don't know how I managed to pull that off, but it sucks.
  22. One of my schools has exactly one result posted this year, for the entire school. That's pretty astonishing to me, given that it's a University of [state Name]. Also, given the number of people who post and the number of people I suspect are trolling the results page, it's even more surprising.
  23. I dreamed I was working in a lab somewhere last night. It was a good deal greener than AZ, which is really every school I applied to, so clearly I must be getting in to all of them.

  25. I keep trying to rationalize why I'll "definitely hear something tomorrow." I'm not very good at this patience thing.
