Ask the schools you're applying to. I had a similar situation. I took business stats at the local uni between the summer of my junior year and senior year of hs. I sent that grad to every phd program, but I'm applying to applied stats PhDs...

1) Nope. 2) For most clinical psych programs, you're going to need to take both. You will definitely need to take the general GRE. 3) http://psychology.unl.edu/psichi/Graduate_School_Application_Kisses_of_Death.pdf 4) It'll depend on the school, but I've had to send transcripts from every program I've attended for my PhD programs.

My strongest rec letter comes from a prof that I've never had a class with. He's supervised my research, I've TAed for him, and I'm the research coordinator for his lab. In my experience, adcoms want someone who can comment on your ability to do research.

I had a 4.0 on the writing section, which is pretty close to your score. My POI said that it was fine. Mind you, he's in quantitative psych, so he understands how the writing section is scored and to disregard the percentile. Since you scored a 3.5, the GRE suggests that your essay "Provides competent analysis of ideas; develops and supports main points with relevant reasons and/or examples; is adequately organized; conveys meaning with reasonable clarity; demonstrates satisfactory control of sentence structure and language usage, but may have some errors that affect clarity."

Chances and direction for the SoP?

Instead of addressing your health in your SOP, I'd suggest having an LOR address it instead. -
PhD Educ. Quant. Policy Analysis, Research Methods?? Help!
Quant_Liz_Lemon replied to andony's topic in GRE/GMAT/etc
I'm applying to similar fields (quant psych); my programs wanted 75%ile and above for quant. I think that's 159+ in the new system. -
High GRE Q/V, Lowish GPA, Sort of a criminal

Hate to burst your bubble, but econ PhDs are highly competitive even with a strong math background AND strong econ background. -
GRE passes minimum requirement, but ain't great... retake?
Quant_Liz_Lemon replied to rael's topic in GRE/GMAT/etc
Some schools have higher thresholds. I'd aim for 1300+. -
Weight of undergrad institution reputation
Quant_Liz_Lemon replied to laplace's topic in Mathematics and Statistics
I agree with cyberwulf. I've actually experienced a significant difference in quality when I transferred from a top 50 r1 institution into a top 15 r1. The effort I expended to earn my As at my old school pales in comparison to the effort I had to expend in order to earn As and Bs at my new school. Perhaps sociology is different, but the original poster isn't in sociology. He's in math and statistics. -
I'd retake it. Biostats programs want to see really high quant scores. 80%+

What do you mean by: 12th : 78% 10th : 84%

PhD Educ. Quant. Policy Analysis, Research Methods?? Help!

You might also want to consider quantitative methods degrees from psychology programs. -
As long as you have a rec letter address it, it won't hurt you.

I disagree. I included a section on representative research papers. My poi at Vanderbilt really liked that I had included it. The projects highlighted my research interests and how they shifted from qualitative to methodological. I only included papers were I had done original research. I made it clear that these weren't publications.

why do schools ask what other programs are you applying to?
Quant_Liz_Lemon replied to iowaguy's topic in Applications
I think that part of it is as you've suggested, but some of it is to get a sense of where they stand among other schools. In my field (Quant Psych), there aren't enough students to go around. Profs like to know who they're competing against. -
What if you messed up college and still have no chosen career path?
Quant_Liz_Lemon replied to Bobbi's topic in The Lobby
Sareth: Given that you aren't in an expert, I suggest that you stop diagnosing medical disorders over the internet. Bobbi: I wouldn't recommend accounting if you find it boring. I'd suggest trying to remember what classes you found interesting in college. Perhaps take a class in that. -
My list is still in flux, as well. My top three programs are Vanderbilt, ASU, and UC:Davis. I'm growing more fond of OSU. I've also thrown in UNC, but their program is down to 4 people. I'm definitely applying to USC, more as a safety than anything. My mentor has strongly suggested that I stop nixing schools from my list.

Non-Ivy has nothing to do with it. Quality of institution is much more important than brand. My non-Ivy undergrad institution has very little brand/name recognition, but my department is very very good. Coming from a good department is much more important than a branded institution.

Honestly, you should care more about the research interests of your PI rather than the rank of the program since those are indeed pretty arbitrary and outdated. Adcom committees admit qualified students that match the research interests of their mentor. Even if you are a good overall candidate, you won't be admitted to work with a mentor whose research interests are very different than your own. I found my profs of interest by reading thru the literature and by asking profs for suggestions. My field is really small (23 programs), so I was able to do a census of all them.
