  1. I agree with you. SoP, Writing samples and LoRs are the most important part of your application. GRE/TOEFL (in my case) are just a standard requirement meant to torture us all.
  2. Don't! My boyfriend called a week ago and a lot of applications still haven't gone through. Don't give up! I sure as hell haven't yet. This is one of my top choices school and I can't wait to hear back from them!
  3. It's one of my top choice. I also applied to UMass-Amherst, UW-Madison (nominated for a fellowship) and UChicago. We'll see what happens. :'(
  4. I was interviewed for CUNY today. :/ We'll see what happens...
  5. This is probably the best topic. Just finished an interview with CUNY=I am freaking out, reliving the terrible experience in my head.
  6. It angers me how schools don't even bother to reject you. I mean, most of us paid a rather large fee to apply, why can't they even have the courtesy to contact you? Of course, I understand the waiting has barely begun, so I am [im] patiently waiting. I've only heard back from UMass (still under revision), UW-Madison (nominated for a fellowship) and CUNY (interview). I really dislike this waiting process.
  7. Nope.... I dream about that at least twice a week.
  8. I think we're all honestly freaking out too early because some people have already been accepted. Still, we have as much chance as anyone else and we have to r-e-l-a-x until they send out every last rejection or acceptance!
  9. I'm really freaking out. I already want to know what I'm going to do in the next few years!
  10. I wish I could attend the Open House on March 15th! They called me over for an interview and I'm so nervous! Could anyone give me some advice? I'mdyinggg
  11. How long ago was your interview? What did they even ask you? I'm curious because I have an interview coming up and I am dying for some advice/help.
  12. A professor once told me to fill that part out because it made colleges compete over you! For example, if you apply to all, or most, of the Ivies you will be most likely accepted into the program of your choice. Not to mention, the school will probably also fund your studies. Your research interests also state a lot about you. If that school is highly interested in becoming the first one to pursue investigations about "X" subject, they will fight over having you!
  13. I think you guys should also consider universities in Europe and Latin America (if you have the language skills). I have a friend that didn't get accepted in the USA/Canada, but she applied to a few European colleges and got in! She gladly lives the full London experience. If you want to keep studying, keep applying to schools! :3
  14. Wow!! Congratulations! That's a great school!!
  15. My boyfriend still hasn't heard anything from them, even though they reached out to him for a fee waiver because of his superb GRE and TOEFL scores (-.-) If you hear back from them, let me know...I don't want the boyfriend to get too anxious.
  16. I am in UMass limbo. :'( It sucks because it's my top choice! Still, my application still hasn't been processed which means there's hope for an acceptance. If not, well...at least UW-Madison offered a fellowship and i have an interview with the CUNY adcom. This waiting period sucks! I want to hear back from UMass ASAP!
  17. This made me laugh so much! Seriously, I think a bit of comedy is needed during these tough times. :-/ Here's hoping!
  18. Thank you! I will! And I'm sure you'll hear back from them soon. My boyfriend called his top choice a few days ago and the admissions officer told him to relax an that the Admissions Committee still has a lot of applications to rummage through. Which means there's hope!!!
  19. I believe my assumed rejection is official too.
  20. That's great! I have a skype interview in a few days. I am too scared to function.
  21. Congratulations to everyone on their acceptances! I was contacted by UW-Madison a few weeks ago for a fellowship nomination. Still, is that an unofficial acceptance? :/ I am currently waiting on UMass and UChicago (for which I'm assuming rejection) CUNY also e-mailed for an interview. I have no idea what to expect! Any tips? HELP!CUNY also e-mailed for an interview. I have no idea what to expect! Any tips? HELP!
  22. Yes, I did get that impression also. I just basically wanted to know how admission officers looked upon this, but I agree. Thank you!
  23. English isn't really my first language. I was wondering if admissions would take that matter into consideration. Also, I've been scoring 155V/150Q in Practice tests for the GRE. With plenty of study, I think I can get to a higher percentile. What do you guys think?
  24. Hello, I am fluent in French, English and Spanish. I know pretty basic German, but haven't had the opportunity to learn Russian. I am quite fine with any location, just as long as the campus is safe. I just want a pretty good program that would hopefully specialize themselves in those three literature areas, or even in Hispanic Studies.
  25. I love The Hours, the 2011 version of Wuthering Heights is somewhat accurate and the BBC series of Pride and Prejudice.
