  1. My program told me between 10-14 days. I'm starting to freak that its not coming, even though I'm more than sure it is. This process is so much fun isn't it?
  2. Accepted: Oklahoma State University Rejected: University of Kansas Invited for interviews with several others, but I'll be accepting the offer at Oklahoma State as it was my number one.
  3. I just taught myself to crochet! I'm currently working on a scarf. Thought this was the perfect time to pick up a new hobby. I'm looking forward to classes on Monday as well.
  4. You all have me cracking up from these last three pages about baked goods. Glad to know I'm in good company Highly neurotic this time of year and willing to do anything to get it over with!
  5. I think its also important to have a list generated of questions you want to ask the programs you're interviewing with. I've heard a couple of stories of my friends going into interviews where the first question they were asked was, "what are your questions for us" and they had to lead the entire interview session. Here's what I've generated on my list so far: 1. What do you think makes the program here stand out from other schools? 2. How often do students typically communicate with their mentor? 3. Do students typically take classes during the summer? 4. What are some of the other students in your lab currently working on? 5. What sort of classes will I have the opportunity to take? What classes do you typically teach? 6. What kind of funding is available for students? Is it guaranteed/for how many years/how are slots determined/etc. For the Clinical folk: 7. When do I being actual clinical work? What sorts of settings would I have the opportunity to work in? 8. When do students typically take qualifying exams? What are they like? etc.
  6. Darwin, like everyone else on here, I'm very impressed with your CV. Your continual support of everyone on these forums coupled with all of your research experience makes me wonder if you ever sleep Congratulations on all of your hard work, and best of luck in the upcoming months!
  7. I worry about this frequently too. I think you're in good company For me, coming up with a solid back up plan for what I'd do if I don't get in this round has made me feel much better. The waiting this time of year is killer, but it helps knowing what life will look like in six months if it doesn't all going according to plan. It's easy for me to sit here and tell you that if you don't get in this application season that it's not a reflection of who you are as a person and that its nothing to be ashamed of, but honestly, if I don't make it in to a single one of the 13 programs I applied to I'll definitely feel like crap. Hang in there the best you can, hope for the best, and plan for the worst. I think you'll end up better off than you think! Good luck!
  8. Self-doubt is all apart of it, right? I think at some level we're all feeling this way. If you're applying to incredible programs, places you'd really love to be, of course you'll start to wonder if you're good enough to be there. All of this waiting isn't doing me any favors either. One second I'm completely confident in my application and research experience, and the next I'm comparing myself to others and wondering when I should put in my app down at Target. Haha, (only partly kidding!). The most comfort I find is in knowing how many others are going through this process and feeling the same things. It will all be over soon!
  9. It may be different for your program, but I also took several community college classes concurrently while I was in high school before attending my four year institution and everywhere I'm applying now has required that I send my 4 year transcript along with my CC transcript, even though those courses are represented on the 4 year. Some schools consider it "academic dishonesty" to withhold this information, though people have several different opinions on the matter. I always err on the side of caution and say just go ahead and send them anyways. It shouldn't hurt you in the process and its better to provide them more information than not enough.
  10. As probably untrue as it is, I feel like the more knowledge I have about something the more in control I am, so I've spent my last several months reading all of these boards as well as the student doctor network relating with people who understand exactly what I'm going through. If you haven't checked out the "Sh*t people say when you are applying to grad school" forum under the "waiting it out" page, you definitely should
  11. Emotional roller coaster is exactly what I'm feeling right now. I feel like my life has been consumed by the application process for so many months now that I'm not sure what to do with the extra time. Some days I feel confident that I'll be hearing back for at least a couple of interviews, and other days I've convinced myself I might as well go apply at Target. Best of luck to all of you in the next couple of months, unless of course you've applied to the same programs as me haha
