Hi,

I just got email from Georgia Southern University with title of "Recommended Admission Decision", saying

"The Jiann Ping Hsu College of Public Health (JPHCOPH) admissions committee has reviewed your application.  A proposed decision has been forwarded to the Georgia Southern University College of Graduate Studies.  The College of Graduate Studies will review the suggestion and make an official admissions decision.  Due to the high volume of applications being processed by that office, applicants should expect a wait time of approximately six (6) to weeks to receive an official admission decision letter. ""

Did anyone have the same experience?

Thanks

Yes, I received an official acceptance a few weeks after that email.

This is indicative of the unique nature of. doctoral admissions.  Doctoral students are chosen by the faculty and, therefore, they can only recommend admission to the Office of Admissions.  You have to wait for the official letter from Admissions before you’re actually admitted.  The process varies by school, but it’s usually a 2 step process.

Has anyone else been waitlisted at UIC?

No, but I received notice that I was not selected for admission via email saying,  "We receive 150 - 200 applications and your application was advanced to the 2nd stage of reviews in the top 40 applications."

Guess I'll prepare to reapply for next year.   Good luck to you!

Thanks. I’m sorry to hear that you did not get selected for admission.

I was accepted at UIC but chose to attend another program.  Hoping that means an opening will be created for someone on the UIC waitlist.  Good luck to all who are still waiting.

Thanks FDrPH! I just may be that person. *crossing fingers*

If I may, what program did you ultimately choose and what about it was a better fit for you?

Good Luck to you!

To those accepted at UIC : What was the deadline given to you to confirm your acceptance?
