English isn't my first language, and I'm so scared that the admissions would think I'm bad at it now. Hmm, is it an obvious mistake? Or small? I doubt a school will reject you over 2 grammatical errors. Especially if it’s something easily missable.

That was me a few weeks ago! That I got accepted into CU and I kept telling my spouse that. He totally brushed it off. But it came true!

Making two mistakes certainly doesn't indicate being bad at a language! It's impressive alone to be bi- or multi-lingual. Thank you!! i was so anxious, but reading this made me feel better?

For my ASU app I pretty outright forgot to change some fonts within my statement making it obvious I copy and pasted some stuff in. They didn't bat an eye I'm pretty sure. Did you have a TOEFL score you submitted? Because that's going to matter more than a couple of mistakes. I'd definitely say do not borrow trouble and don't worry incessantly until decisions. Know that many native speakers probably made mistakes too and that two in the grand scheme of things is pretty minimal. Edited January 27, 2020 by madisonc7
UT2020 Posted January 27, 2020 Posted January 27, 2020 Heyo so I got this email from UT and I would love to hear thoughts on whether this is a positive or negative! ”Your application has gone through one review, but does not yet have a decision. It will likely go through one more review before a decision is made.”

It may just be an automated email unless you reached out personally id assume

SMLDC Posted January 27, 2020 Posted January 27, 2020 This weekend, I was accepted at UChicago with a half-tuition scholarship. Still haven't heard from most places and only have 1 scholarship decision so far. Seems like there's interest in seeing timelines for submission to acceptance, so I'm sharing my roster, which is in line with what we've heard from others. All are MSW programs (clinical) with the exception of George Washington University, which is a MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Accepted: UChicago (applied 12/1, accepted 1/25), UMichigan (applied 12/1, accepted 1/13), Ohio State (applied 12/1, accepted 12/13) Waiting to Hear Back: GWU (11/22), Columbia (12/1), Smith College (1/5), Boston Univ (1/10), University of Pittsburgh (1/20), UPenn (1/25) katp and IvySWCu 2

Polcc Posted January 27, 2020 Posted January 27, 2020 (edited) Has anyone applied for MSW program twice? I was denied by 2 schools in 2018 right out of undergrad, took 1.5 years off to work (same place had my BSW internship) and have a new and 100% improved SOP. Still nervous about my chances seeing as they denied me once before...anyone similar issues? Should I be applying to other schools *if* i get denied again..? It's difficult because I'd then have to go out of state Edited January 27, 2020 by Polcc
mswanxiety Posted January 27, 2020 Posted January 27, 2020 anyone heard back from UMich about fin aid and scholarships? They're the only one of my top choices that I'm waiting to hear from...

So you totally encouraged to apply again if you have more experience. It also depends on the pool of candidates you were applying against the first time around. I think you should definitely go for it! Polcc 1

Liza123 Posted January 27, 2020 Posted January 27, 2020 I received my official letter from UMich today! It came in email. I only heard back on the 16th, so I imagine those who heard earlier will also be getting the letter soon. I'm a little confused though - I can't find the respond-by date anywhere, not even in my portal? As for financial aid - it said in the letter that that information will be coming separately. I'm a little concerned though, because for some reason I didn't complete the financial aid portion on the application, but i did just submit my Fasfa...hopefully I'll be offered something. katp 1

That could maybe impact the timeline I was given.

It's difficult because I'd then have to go out of state I did. I graduated is 2017, applied to Michigan State last year (2019) and was denied. I applied again this application cycle and was accepted, I also applied to 2 other in state schools just in-case and was accepted to all of them. I however was applying to the 2 year program as I don't have a BSW. I feel as though my application was not great in the 2019 cycle, rereading my essay after I was denied- I can tell I definitely rushed it. This cycle I took a lot more time and had more eyes look over my essay, along with another years work experience in nonprofit.

Same with my essay too, I had more time with it and more people reviewed it. I also have my LSW now so I'm hoping that helps ClJones95 1
