Hi all,

I recently applied to the MPPA program at Carleton. Just wanted to make a thread so people can discuss admissions, funding, etc!

Where did you apply and what are the statuses of your apps?

Hi all!

I applied to Queens, Carleton, and Concordia's MPPPA (I live in Montreal). I just got my acceptance from Queens this morning! They said a formal email with more details will be coming shortly.

Sure!

3.6 GPA from McGill, strong letters, held two positions in student government and am an editor for an undergraduate journal. No professional experience.

Congrats on your admission @Slycky-J! :) My app at Carleton is at the Review in progress by Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Affairs stage. Im not too sure if this is good or bad but fingures crossed!

Here's hoping for the rest of us!

Hello!

I got accepted into Queens last week and go my acceptance from Carleton today with $15k funding! I'm still waiting on UofT, has anyone heard from them??

The offer from Carleton is really tempting, especially since UofT is notoriously known for giving out little funding (if any at all lol) but I'm conflicted between choosing between Carleton and UofT if comes down to it. I know that within Canada, the prestige/title of schools doesn't really matter much, but I were to live outside of Canada in the future (I'm in a longterm relationship with someone from the US so it's a possibility) would it be better to go for UofT just for the name? I also love big cities so...

I know there are so many other important factors that come into play when choosing a program  (courses/research interests of profs/working federally vs in OPS, etc...) BUT can anyone shed some light for me on the aforementioned question? Thank you and good luck to everyone still waiting to hear from schools!! :)

Hey @kellz what's your application status for UofT? I haven't heard back from them yet

I just checked and it still isn't even under review yet. :( From what I heard from others, we'll likely begin to hear from them mid-March.

Yeah same with mine, I was worried I'm the only one. ? Mid-March is pretty soon, I'll be on the lookout

Where did you hear the mid-March deadline? Looking at last years discussion for the 2019 cohort they were informed that they'd hear back March 2nd to 3rd.

My MPP application for UofT isn't under review yet either, but my MSc in Planning is under review. I guess Munk School has a slow turn around.

Yesterday at about 3pm I received an email from Waterloo with a conditional offer. They told me that the official acceptance would be made available on Quest in about 2 weeks to accept or decline the offer.

Congratulations on your acceptance at Waterloo!

Can I ask you about your profile (gpa, work experience...) ?
