Out of curiosity...what has changed since your last application? I got waitlisted this yr and honestly the only thing I can change next yr is revise my proposal, get one more publication and some more leadership stuff (which they probably don't care anyway).....

Thanks :) I didn't apply for Vanier, I am not eligible for it. My last name starts with S

My last name starts with M but I did not receive my result yet. When did you receive your password yesterday?

Just heard back, will be declining my offer due to Vanier! Hope this gives someone whose waitlisted some hope! (I was waitlisted last year and all I wanted was someone to post something like this!)

My committee was 187!

I wasn't awarded an offer last year, but I knew people who were waitlisted and would've loved to hear this. So here it is..

I got a PGS-D for committee 201, will also be declining the offer for due to Vanier.

Good luck all! :)

Last year I had 2 submitted publications and 1 out. This year one of those 2 submitted pubs was published, and one was accepted. I also joined one of the committees at my school, so I put that on my application. And got relevant lab training through a paid internship. So busy year for me last year! To be honest I went through the selection criteria right after I was rejected last year and found ways to check them off.

Thanks for the insights!

Hi all - What is the best way to improve application for next year? Request the "written opinions"? And go through that?

I don't think that is an option...reviewers are not asked to provide written comments on each file.  You can request to see what your references said about you in the Comments on Applicant section ... that's about it....

They do seem to put some emphasis on your publication record. I know someone who got Vanier but only offered PGS-D by NSERC with 0 journal paper.

Yeah getting feedback is a great start, more publications, and getting involved in community outreach is also a great idea too.
