Hi Everyone!

This is my first post and I am super excited! I applied to PSU, BU, Columbia, and was about to submit for DU when I found out I was accepted at BU!  it was my top choice and I had a week to accept admission (which I did and I'm excited) but didn't have a chance to see where else I may have been accepted or fin aid options.   I feel like generally there is a lot less funding for online students generally so fin aid probably wouldn't have made a huge difference. Also BU doesn't have any scholarships for online students. My employer has a program of upto 15k tuition reimbursement if selected but you can't be receiving any kind of scholarships, only loans. It might work out perfectly, fingers crossed I get approved! Timing might be in my favor as they have a hard time recruiting MSWs and LCSWs here and the one in our department is leaving soon. (We're a smaller rural nonprofit hospital)

Im still waiting on responses from

Columbia online reduced residency (applied 2/8)

Portland state online (1/5)

Are there any other online MSW students that want to share their experience or are starting soon??

Hi! Is there anyone else going back and forth between UPenn's or BC's MSW program? I've been weighing out my pros and cons for weeks now and still haven't come to a decision

Hello all, I recently got accepted to both ECU and UNCWs MSW program for the Fall! Both are excellent schools, hence the reason I applied to both, but now I am having difficulty deciding which one to choose. If anyone has happened to go or knows someone who has gone to these schools for their MSW program, which one would you recommend? If not, what aspects should I prioritize when comparing the schools?

Hi beautiful people! Cross-posting this from the Bay Area MSW thread. I just wanted to send out a plea lol. If you have decided on a school that you're set on committing to, but still have your applications being considered at other schools, pleeeease consider rescinding your application from those programs you're definitely not going to (or if you've already been admitted, letting them know ASAP to offer your spot to someone else). I know it might feel good to get a few more acceptances and I know the curiosity factor is real (like, you want to know if you'd get in even though you're not going to commit), but in reality it also might be delaying the good news and decisions that others are waiting for. It seems the application pool was extremely competitive this year. This of course is in no way meant to be pressure anyone to commit to a school/program you're not sure about if financial offers are still being considered, you're undecided, location is an issue, etc. I just mean for people who are like "YES I got into the school that I am definitely going to commit to," please consider letting other schools know that you're going somewhere else. I say this because I got this response from the director of SFSU re: decision time line for NON-title IV applicants...

"So, this year we considered 345 direct practice applicants for only 27 spots. We have sent out our first few admits and will send out more next week. As we hear back from people, we will begin to draw from the waiting list."

Good luck to everyone still waiting and huge congratulations to those who have received acceptances! ❤️

Hello! I have received offers from BC and BU and have been feeling a bit... unsettled by the cost of these and other MSW programs. Even with a generous scholarship I am going have to come up with 22k to cover two years at my top choice (BC). What do folks consider a "good" financial aid package, and how much are you willing to pay for a particular program?

It’s very rare people get their entire masters program free. They best decision is what you can afford to pay. 22k doesn’t seem like a lot. I have come across ppl who acquired 100k in student loan debt . Also there are jobs who will pay off your student loans and forgiveness programs.

Has anyone gotten their financial aid package from Columbia? I got mine today and they're giving 20k per year in scholarship. Does anyone know the max amount of scholarship they give out?

I also received 20k/yr from Columbia! It’s usually the max they give out however I’ve heard people who received the same appeal amount appeal and get more scholarship money!
