Hello everyone! I’ve been lurking through like all of last year and have basicallly read every single thread from 2007. Finally gave in to the anxiety of waiting and made an account to be able to post and interact! So....the sheet says Berkeley will release on January 29th. Does anyone have any info on that? Delays due to Covid? I know someone who has received an acceptance in the South Asian studies department so far this year.

Generally there is increase in applicants for departments, so there could be delays, but that's not necessarily the case. And the results that have come out so far seem to suggest that there are no delays.

Since the prediction on the spreadsheet is based on past records, it probably will be accurate. We'll see.

I mentioned this on the FB--the most likely times were right around the 28/29th based on date or next Tuesday based on day of the week. While I put it down as the 28th (which...is odd since on a second look I think day of the week is the stronger lean) I think that next Tuesday is actually more plausible. But I don't want to bake the predictions so it stays. For some predictions if you click the cell you'll see comments that I've added in this year.

With the increase in applications and COVID stuff though some predictions will be super off probably ??‍♂️

It's important to remember that these are just predictions. The departments have their own agendas. They could release a month and a half later than in a previous year if that's what fits their priorities.

Thanks all of you. Especially MtnDuck. That sheet has been a godsend. I’m now basically counting minutes to hear back from somewhere, anywhere. Although most schools, barring Berkeley, that I’ve applied to have been predicted to release in mid to late February. And even if the predictions are only predictions, given everything this year, delays are certainly more likely than surprise early acceptances.

Someone in the FB group got accepted to Berkeley today! So at least some acceptances have gone out on time.

Did they happen to mention the method of contact and time (phone call/email)?

Someone else just commented and she got a phone call about an hour ago!

Do you think they're done calling by now? I've already kind of thrown in the towel mentally...

My guess is theyre probably done calling, although I dont think theyve emailed waitlisted folks yet. Perhaps someone can confirm this?

You're probably right, but at the same time it's only been a couple of hours and only 1 person has posted. There may (hopefully) be more acceptances!

Tbh Berkeley was tied as my worst fit, and I'd almost be relieved to get my first rejection out of the way haha

I hope you're right PolPhil! I'm not so sure about my chances, but best of luck to you and everyone else!

Probably silly question, but can anyone point me to the post or comment in FB group that claims Berkeley acceptance/waitlist? I have checked recent posts in the FB group multiple times but do not seem to be able to locate those claims……
