Does anybody know if Brandeis is going to be sending out any more invites? There have only been two people who've posted about the Neuroscience program bu that was on the 8th of December so I don't have a lot of hope but I haven't received a rejection either.

Congrats on the interview invite!! Did you happen to contact faculty members you are interested in working with before applying to OHSU? My application was rejected and I am just trying to understand what could have gone wrong. Goodluck!

I did not contact any faculty members but I am from Portland, so that may have worked in my favor. Best of luck!

I didn't apply to OHSU (wanted to get out of Portland for grad school), but I work in a neuro lab there currently (have worked here awhile now) and my PI takes students and was telling me about OHSU's admissions process in case I wanted to stay working for her as a grad student. OHSU REALLY cares about undergrad chemistry class grades and put a lot of weight on it. Even for the behavioral neuro track. They once ran some stats on their students and found that those with better chem grades performed better in the program or something.

I had applied to their postbac program 2 years ago and didn't get in because I had not taken the GRE yet and they didn't  like that.... which it isn't even required or necessary for a post baccalaureate internship....Anyway that makes me think they care a lot about GRE even if it is optional now cause of COVID (not sure if that is the case though). Hope this helps anyone who applied there specifically!

Do you all think most of the invites went out already or that we can expect another batch during the first week of January?

I think next week is going to be the start of a mix of rejections (UCSF, UW) and the beginning of interview invites for the remainder of schools that send out in January (eg. Stanford, MIT).

My guess for schools that already sent out invites that you also don't get a rejection from...there's a chance you're waitlisted and could receive a late interview invitation between mid-January and early February. It looks like last year UW might have sent out a couple more invitations in January

Did anyone apply to UMich Neuro direct and not through PiBS and hear back yet? Apparently the direct and the PiBS applications have different timelines? Thanks!

Based on the UMichigan results page, neuro interviews went out 17th and 20th of December. A lot of rejection posts too so idk what to say. I haven’t received mine yet.

Did you apply direct or PiBS? Someone on reddit said that in an open house it was mentioned that they have different admissions timelines and that for direct the interviews come out around the 1st of the year (or the Monday following the 1st).

Edit: This redditor also got an interview earlier this month as he/she applied through PiBS.

I applied direct to neuroscience. For our sakes, I hope you are right about interviews.

Does anyone know what percentage of applicants will get admitted after an interview for Yale Neuroscience?

Has anyone else received an interview invite from OHSU?

I accepted an invitation to interview but have not received any response to my acceptance email, and no sign of the email with more questions/info that the invite email suggested would follow if I accepted.  It’s been over a week since I initially accepted and the deadline to accept is the 3rd. The radio silence is making me nervous that emails may not reaching the right inboxes. Is anyone else in a similar situation? Have you received some confirmation or more information about the interviews?

Phew I was having the same concerns, I accepted my invite through a Google Form and it didn't send me any kind of  confirmation that I was good but I guess we just gotta be patient and see (I did take a screenshot of my submitted Google Form page just in case lol)

Hey, I will be interviewing at OHSU as well and did have a zoom call with a PI there, although it ended up being that we probably weren't the greatest fit research wise, but I still mentioned it in my statement and it may have helped esp since someone mentioned that they focus a lot on chem grades which mine were not the best.

From UVA: " The admissions committee has completed the first phase of inviting applicants to interview. Decisions will be made throughout February with final decisions likely entered by March."

What do we think folks, another batch this week (Stanford, MIT, NIH-GPP, etc.)?

My gut instinct says we hear back from Stanford either this friday (most likely) or next friday. Others I’ve no clue.

The admissions committee is meeting early this week so hopefully we will hear back soon!

Does anyone already have interview offers from UCLA and/or UCSD, and would be willing to kindly share when the interview dates are? I'm trying to respond to another school regarding interview time slots, but would like a better picture to reduce chances of a time clash.

Thank you so much! :)

BCS and Stanford are typically in January.

It looks like in years past there are a couple invites in December for BCS, but seems like it's clear admits more on the cognitive side. This is speculation though.

I was admitted to BCS a couple years ago on the cognitive side, and got an invite in December, as did a couple other cog people I know (not sure if we were "clear admits"--is this based on insider info or inferring based on grad cafe search results [not being snarky; genuinely curious]). Others I know got invites in January.

And yes (to another person's question) invites are handled separately by track (to some degree), as are admission decisions more generally.

To anyone else waiting to hear back from Mount Sinai Icahn, the neuroscience program coordinator just told me that they will be sending "updates" this week. Cheers and good luck!

UCLA is scheduled for me for January 23-24. Not sure if this is what everybody got invited to or if I was assigned though because the email says "Jan 23 - 24 session", but I hope this helps a bit! Good luck!
