I personally sent an email saying: “I am so excited about the possibility of coming to [the school that made me an offer]!” Then wrote a sentence or two reiterating what I liked about it and affirming that I had a good experience interviewing. To close I just honestly told them, “I have one other interview in two weeks that I want to attend before I make a decision, but I will respond to the offer as soon as I can.”

I think it’s best to just be transparent. They know you must be waiting on other offers, otherwise you would accept right away.

Would you mind sharing where you are accepted/where your top choice is? Totally understand if the answer is no.

Remember that the deadline for ALL programs and offers is April 15. Programs cannot require you to make a decision before that date. If they try or pressure you to do so, they are violating APA polici

Curious if anyone has any good wording for following up with a POI following an interview? I had an interview a month ago and have not yet heard back about any decisions for a program. They did mention decisions would go out once full funding was secured but I want to reach out to express continued interest and see if there is any new news.

Here's a general format that I've been following, that one of my undergrad advisors approved of :) So far, POI's responded positively and with some intel as to when decisions could be made.

Dr. [name],

I really enjoyed speaking with you [this week/during interview week/last month] and hearing your perspective regarding [some topic you discussed in interviews, research interest overlap], as well as learning more about your work regarding [other work they focus in, whether it overlaps with your work or is a potential future research path]. I see [school's name] program as a great fit for me and an opportunity to expand upon my current research interests and explore new interests as well!

Thank you for your time,
