dorzsec Posted April 1, 2021 Posted April 1, 2021 I opened my application and the status is "Alternate". Kind of disappointed, but maybe there is still a chance (I'm not hopeful). Good luck to everyone else!

curiousascarl Posted April 1, 2021 Posted April 1, 2021 I got an offer for Carleton. For reference I was put on the waitlist for OGS and thought I likely had no chance for SSHRC. But reflecting now, I didn't get OGS because it's primarily based on the highest grades. While SSHRC seems a little more holistic. I'm extremely happy, definitely makes not being able to sleep all night worth it. Good luck to everyone! signului 1

gradstudent123456789 Posted April 1, 2021 Posted April 1, 2021 Got offered from McGill but not even alternate for UofT

Okease9 Posted April 1, 2021 Posted April 1, 2021 Got offered the CIHR-stream award at U of T and accepted (only school I applied to as I'm a current student). Best of luck to everyone!
sharingxn Posted April 1, 2021 Posted April 1, 2021 I got listed as alternate for UofT NSERC. What's the likelihood that I might receive the award (any good stories?)? I am hoping...

gradpsychology Posted April 1, 2021 Posted April 1, 2021 I also have one of my 3 schools still saying « received by administrator » (and it’s the one for which I already accepted an offer lol). Does anyone know how long it’s gonna take to get updated?
onmyway Posted April 1, 2021 Author Posted April 1, 2021 I got offered NSERC CGSM at once school, alternate at another, and "received by administrator" at the third haha signului 1
fundingpls Posted April 1, 2021 Posted April 1, 2021 Got alternate NSERC for McGill. Anyone knows how much the list moves/ how I can get my ranking?

gradreader06 Posted April 1, 2021 Posted April 1, 2021 Alternate at UWO. Is there any way to check how far you are on the list?

Also for anyone else who applied to Waterloo - I received an email saying that my status will remain as "Received by Administrator” until the competition is over, or we are able to make a scholarship offer. So it seems that some schools are using "Received by Administrator” as another way of saying Alternate. Edited April 1, 2021 by onmyway

signului Posted April 1, 2021 Posted April 1, 2021 I got alternate for Carleton and to be honest I am quite surprised I did not get rejected right away because while my GPA is quite high I have nothing else in terms of experience. Good luck to everyone who is also waiting!

I am on the wait list for Carleton and was wondering, do you know how many awards are allocated at Carleton? I saw somewhere that each school has a number and was curious if anyone knows. Can't seem to find the information.

Carleton is a pretty small and competitive school so I am grateful to at least have been considered.
Siosaur Posted April 1, 2021 Posted April 1, 2021 Alternates don't give up hope! You can contact your department and find out what your rank is. I was 9th at UVic years ago and I got it after the first 3 week decision period, and I'm not sure what my UBC rank was but I also got it there too after 3 weeks. Two alternates became two offers, so you never know.
