coyabean Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 (edited) I've had a prime account in the past when I was a gainfully employed adult. I found the shipping was pretty much worth it. Looks like this also comes with book discounts. Sign up here . Edited July 13, 2010 by coyabean Mr. Wonton, dant.gwyrdd and Strangefox 3

American in Beijing Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 Just have to have a .edu e-mail and fill out some basic info. http://www.amazon.com/student Go go go! Thanks so much for sharing this! Does anyone happen to know how long this promotion will last? Ideally I would want to start my year so that I can make the most use out of it possible (i.e. start it out in August right when I'm about to buy my books for school). Do you think the promotion will still be going on then?

Do you think the promotion will still be going on then? No idea. Presumably it would last for a month. Of course, if you wait just one day too long... I went ahead and signed up today. No use taking a chance for what amounts to one month.

joro Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 I read on slickdeals that it lasts one year and they won't charge you to renew.
coyabean Posted July 13, 2010 Author Posted July 13, 2010 (edited) I debated putting it here when I posted but couldn't decide. Thanks, mods! Also, my friend had a paid Prime account at the time and when she signed up they refunded her and honored the free student account within minutes of signing up. Oh, Amazon, how I adore thee. chickadee21 Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 Also, for those of you looking to get rid of old textbooks, Amazon has a Textbook Buyback program - http://www.amazon.co...node=2205237011 you select which books you want to trade in, ship them to Amazon for free, and get an Amazon gift certificate. I now have a nice cushion for buying textbooks this fall
