BowelMovement Posted February 10 Posted February 10 I was looking through the draft sheet and realized WashU St. Louis (MFA) released decisions early February for both 2023 and 2024 but somehow only released in March in 2025, does anyone know why this is?

It's all political. Very likely Wash U lost a ton of funding due to current *ahem... *no comment* and they probably decided to release their results later to scramble to find funding for even the candidates they want to fund. I would guess so but again I am no expert or crystal ball master here. The way I can guess is that at USC the post-fellowships in the English dept seemed to have dried up too... so late Feb/early Mar are my guesses at this point. Your guess is as good as mine.

westwide2 Posted February 10 Posted February 10 It can feel like MFA apps take forever, then I'm like wait, no - I've waited a year to hear back from literary journals before for my submissions. I still have pending submissions right now from April 2025! The stakes are higher, though. Maybe time is warped by a sense of stakes? If I remember correctly they don't tell you if you didn't make it to round two until later. I was waitlisted last year and made it to round two again this year.

Hence the questioning my sanity if I actually uploaded the documents correctly (since it wasn't just an email submission this year).

bucket Posted February 10 Posted February 10 would it be a faux pas to email a program asking them if they have sent out all acceptances already? it’s my top program and i have no clue if they’ve sent all offers out or not (in precious years they seem to send them out a bit sporadically), and it would effect how i respond to another school’s waitlist offer if i know i definitely will not be accepted into my #1 lisichka and meanwhile 2

Thank you <3) UMN acceptances have gone out, no waitlists listed yet Arizona sent out acceptances and WLs on Feb 14 last year Only 1 WL for Alabama is out right now, so unclear if acceptances sent out too Ole Miss jus started sending 2nd round notifs like an hour ago UNCG sent interviews Feb 28 last year SC sent out WL on Feb 25 last year Idaho is usually end of Feb Arkansas sent out WL on Feb 21 last year That's what I found! Minnesota - it looks like people got notified on 1/22 for this cycle. I don't see that waitlist are reported but last year they were reported a few weeks later. Arizona - last year went out around 2/14. No reports this year except in nonfiction Alabama - waitlist went out on 2/7 this year Ole Miss - round 2 was just notified today. I treat all of our crowd sourced data as an unreliable and unofficial channel, not a source of truth. I don't consider it as giving insight into what is actually happening to my application or what's going on inside the programs. bucket and SocialKonstruct 2
