Hi everyone,

So, I checked my status online again (as I do every morning obsessively...haha) and I found my status finally changed from "in progress" to "not accepted." So if you've been waiting forever for your notification - good luck! And hopefully you did better than I did. (Though, as I said in my post on the results boards, I'm kind of fine with this rejection since I've already received admits to two schools in nicer areas with more funding!)

Good luck!! :)

Thanks for the info. "Not accepted" here as well :-/

Also "not accepted." I find the lack of an email from many programs to be rather rude. I recognize that they have a lot of applicants, but an email is only fair.

Mine still reads "In Progress." Here's to hoping they tear the bandage off quickly.

I was just accepted to the MA program--great school, but they're offering zero funding whatsoever for master's candidates. Just something to keep in mind if you're still waiting.

Heya Swilson - was your acceptance via email? It seems they must be doing rejections/acceptances at the same time this year. I haven't heard anything yet.

Maybe this is what's going on in the admissions department. . .

Must be.. 5.5 weeks later I'm still awaiting a formal acceptance from the department. I emailed about funding a few days ago and was told not only do they have no idea what kind of funding they'll offer me, they also don't know when they'll know. Getting fed up, but scheduled a visit anyway (that I have to pay for).

Hmm. That's interesting. I had a meeting with the DGS to ask some questions about the program, and she said that all Ph.D. admits received some kind of funding. But I imagine your name's at the top of the list for money, byronlover, considering your fellowship nomination.

Whoa. A waitlist just went up. Anyone care to claim and/or share details?

Thanks--I hope you're right! Was it Claire Fox you spoke to? She hasn't answered my emails.

And I wonder if the waitlisted person was notified by the department. They'd be the first to hear anything from them..

I was waitlisted, but I wasn't the one who posted on the results board. I think they have an issue with funding right now, or something. The email implies that no acceptances will be given without funding, and that a small number of acceptances have been made, but that the school is expecting some of those that were accepted to decline admission.

Yes, I spoke to Claire Fox--but I've never received an e-mail directly from her. When I sent her the message requesting a meeting, she forwarded it to the graduate admin, who keeps her calender. Maybe give e-mailing/calling the graduate admin a shot?

Thanks, wild_rose. Oh boy, my nerves are going crazy!

EDIT: Also, did your ISIS status change?

After all of this suspense, I'm going to be a little cheesed off if it turns out that I'm an "outlier" rejection whose ISIS status took longer to roll over to "not accepted." <_<

Nope. Still "In Progress."

I finally got a letter! Thank goodness. Funding info TBA. But still.. formal acknowledgment!

Congrats to those waitlisted. :)

Thanks, byronlover! And again, congrats to you for all of your great acceptance karma!

Waitlisted here as well - what do you suppose our chances are?

Hey all, just writing to shed what light I can. Got an acceptance letter today, spare on details, funding info pending. The letter mentioned it was the "first round" of news. Any idea what this actually means, from a practical standpoint? Letters going out in waves? What are the implications of that?

Maybe it means, "Congrats, you're at the top of our "accepted and desired list"? ;)

I don't really get the wave thing, but I feel like they're betting that the many of the first round acceptances won't accept, so then the funding can be handed off to others. Perhaps by including the "first round" note, they want you to hold off from accepting elsewhere until funding info has been released.

I am largely clueless about this whole process, though, so don't mind my blabbering.
