I noticed some Marquette Theology (systematics/ethics not historical theology) acceptances today. Anyone here want to claim it? Any details?

single_individual,

I received an email last night from Prof. Mueller saying that I was accepted but that financial aid is still pending.

Hope that helps.

Should let you all know that Harvard CSR has released. I don't want to be a killjoy, but if you have not yet received an email from them, expect to be rejected or (hopefully!) waitlisted! It seemed that last year rejections were sent through snail mail so be checking your mailboxes.

I hope you guys all get in somewhere and even if you don't, that you find (and you will!) something meaningful and fulfilling and altogether wonderful.

Accepted at Claremont Graduate University to the joint MA Philosophy/PhD Religion. Got an email from the program coordinator.

I'll be turning this down though since they're only offering 50% tuition and Northwestern is offering full tuition plus a stipend. Would've been fun to do an MA in Philosophy though!

It's unfortunate but all too common at CGU. Funding offers from them have run the full spectrum, 0% (literally) to 100% (though it's increasingly rarer for anything above 50%) but on the bright side, the department has amazing connections and can generally secure community college work by your 3rd year.

Anyway, I think you made the right decision. Besides, I think Chicago has more to offer.

Thanks for the insight! I would have LOVED to work directly with Ingolf Dalferth... Interestingly enough, if Northwestern ends up being where I land, I'll be working with Christine Helmer who came to Northwestern. I'm certainly excited about the resources available in Chicago.

Thanks for all the information everyone is putting out there. I have one acceptance so far, four rejections, and five yet to hear from (but I can guess about most of them). It's especially nice to know that I should be hearing something official from Harvard soon. Here are my results:

Accepted: Emory GDR (New Testament) mid February

Rejected: Yale (NT), Duke (NT), BC (NT/Biblical Studies), Princeton Theological Seminary (NT)

Still waiting for news: BU, Harvard GSAS (Religions of Late Antiquity), Notre Dame (CJA), Fordham (NT), University of Toronto (Religions of Mediterranean Antiquity)

Also accepted for the MSt in Jewish Studies at Oxford with some funding, but I will not be taking it since I have a solid PhD offer.

At this point, I'm assuming it's going to be Emory, and it's one of my top choices anyway. But I still want to hear somethign official from Harvard and Notre Dame before I choose.

Also, in case it helps anyone, I have friends here at Yale who have been accepted at Chicago (NT), HDS (NT), and UNC (ancient Christianity).

Good luck everyone.

Oh, I forgot to mention, in case anyone might be deliberating between Yale and Notre Dame for NT/CJA and had not heard: anyone for whom this is relevant probably already knows, but Gregory Sterling was just announced this week as the new dean of Yale Divinity School. This makes me less dissappointing at (probably) not getting in at Notre Dame and more dissappointing at not getting in at Yale. Alas...

Congrats on Emory. I'm still waiting to here from them on Hebrew Bible. I did the MSt in Jewish Studies. That was quite an experience. There's nothing quite like studying at Oxford.

Woah, that's huge! I just met with him at SBL, who's replacing him at ND and what's happening with Attridge?

I haven't heard anything about who would be replacing him at ND- I don't think the dean thing has been in the works for that long. But yeah, as Balatro has said, Attridge will be back after a year (during which he'll be in Australia). Additionally, YDS is hiring a new NT associate professor, and will probably be hiring another next year as well (to replace Swancutt and Hultin respectively).

Thanks- hopefully you'll hear something soon on Hebrew Bible! I do know a student here at YDS who was offered a place in Hebrew Bible, but I don't know him very well, so I don't know if he is likely to accept or not.

The MSt at Oxford looks like a great program. I had thought about seeing if I could defer admission to a PhD program so I could Oxford as well, but then I realized that even with a good scholarship, living expenses and airfare (for both myself and family) would make it too much when I have a well-funded PhD option. This is the third time I've -almost- studied in the UK and nothing has worked yet. Maybe some day!

Well, I'm told they usually end up going through a long list each year. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I was accepted to CGU's PhD right out of my undergrad and I deferred so I could go to Oxford. Kristen de Troyer, with whom I wanted to work at CGU, had gone to St. Andrews between applying and being accepted, so I wasn't too excited to go back, but they tore the program apart that year and told me they weren't taking new students when I was finished with Oxford. I'm not too upset about that, but I do need to get into some kind of program this year.

I have applied to the JTS PhD program in Rabbinic civilizations. It is however, the same application sharing the same slots with their Hebrew Bible and Jewish literature and Jewish history programs.

Has anybody else on this site applied to the JTS PhD program? Or does anybody know what their adcom is doing now? They told us in January that 'we will get back to you at the end of February or the beginning of March with a decision,' and they invited us all repeatedly to their prospective student weekend on March 18-19, but since then they have not contacted me and the only information I have seen is that one person posted a week ago: JTS called and told her she was accepted to the MA program on the strength of her PhD application.

I know Notre Dame has made offers for PhD Hist. of Christianity, but have they rejected anyone yet?

If you weren't invited to the interview weekend, I wouldn't hold your breath. I know someone on the waitlist who was at the weekend and if they get in, they will take the offer. As there are only two slots in HC this year and I'm certainly taking one, there won't be any need for them to go to a waitlist beyond those whom they interviewed.
