I would super appreciate it if the individual accepted into UCLA's developmental program could PM me there POI also!

I posted this on the Social Psych page but just in case someone here knows something (anything!) about these schools...

Has anyone heard anything (social psych related) from:

~Penn State

~Delaware

~Wisconsin

~Michigan State

~Loyola (Chicago)

I think some of these schools won't send out notifications for another week or so, but I'm getting really impatient. As I said on another page, at this point I really just want to know if I should cross the school off my list or still keep hoping.

Anyone here anything from Seton Hall or St. John's University (Clinical Psychology) yet?

According to past Result's surveys notifications of interview offers should be out or coming very soon...

Somebody posted that they heard from Cornell already. Anybody want to claim it? Haven't heard anything since the interviews, looking like they might reject me after all.

One of my friend has received an admission from Penn State earlier this week. Hope this might help!

Thanks! I had a feeling that Penn State was a rejection (at least that is how I'm looking at it).

Got a response from one of my inquiries, saying that 4 offers were made and 2 people have already accepted but 2 are still pending. My POI said to keep him posted about my plans and interest to the program. Does that essentially mean I'm wait-listed? Should I just tell him that they're one of my top choices and I would accept if granted admission? You think that would help at all, or at least put me higher on the alternate list?

God, I hate the ups and downs of this whole process. One day I think I'll have too many options, the other that I won't have any.

Seems like UCSD have made their decision in Cognitive Science as well, at least that's what the survey says. Guess I'm rejected there as well. Argh.

Based on my experience with emails like that it does indeed sound like you are on the waitlist. Because your POI said to keep him posted about your interest, I would tell him that they are one of your top choices (as long as that is the case). I don't know if it would help anything but the way I see it, it can't hurt.

If anyone else was accepted to South Carolina Experimental psychology program, message me! Since there wasn't an interview weekend I was just hoping to talk to others and get to know a little bit more about the program/other people accepted!

University of Guelph (CANADA) applied social psychology area met today. I was told I would not be receiving an offer of admission (unofficial rejection).

Is it typical to send a thank e-mail after an interview weekend? Interview with a school this past weekend and am wondering if I should be e-mailing my POI and thanking her for the opportunity or should I just let them come to their decision and wait.

I was told decisions would be made this week and personally feel like the weekend went well but I don't want to ruin if it's considered rude not to thank them for the invite over the weekend.

At the same time I don't want to come across as desperate either. So those of you who have been on interviews do you typically send a thank you email shortly after?

Yes, mj53, do send email thank yous following your admissions interviews! Typically, you send these to the faculty you had meetings with and to anyone who performed a particular support function during your stay (e.g., grad students/profs who transported you to/from the airport, hosted you, etc.) Best of luck to you!

I have had one interview so far, and I did send a thank you email to my POI, a couple of other profs whom I met and "hit it off" with, and the staff member who was responsible for coordinating the schedule & travel arrangements (everything about the visit went so smoothly). They weren't purely "thank you" emails, as I also asked a couple of follow-up questions about the program and also the conversation we had during the visit.

I don't know if the notes helped, but they definitely didn't hurt. All of the people I emailed sent friendly replies, and I received an acceptance to the program (a couple of weeks later)!

It might be nice to at least send a thank you/follow up to your POI. It's courteous and it helps maintain an open channel of communication.

Send a thank you email to all the people you met and your host. If you do that, you might stand out when they make their decisions (recency effect, anyone?). You don't have to sound desperate. Just say thanks for the opportunity, I look forward to hearing from you.

I don't know if anyone is still waiting on Northwestern or Emory at this point, but I emailed the coordinators at each school a couple of weeks ago. They've already held their recruitment events. Emory won't send official rejection letters until late March or early April, and I suspect Northwestern is on a similar timeline.

Edit: I applied to NU's BBC program and Emory's Cog&Dev program, but I'm pretty sure what I said also applies to the other programs in their psychology departments...

Got an email at 10pm on 2/29 stating my acceptance to Ferkauf's Clinical PhD (with a health emphasis). After applying twice, third time is a charm! Very excited :)
