So my friend is looking for results from other MFA candidates. Anyone get any news yet?

She's only received one decision- UW-Madison...rejected. :( She's still too bummed to join GC and check out the fora herself so I thought that I'd pass along any info that I got.

Good luck to all!!!!!!! Hope everyone finds a great program to attend this Fall. :)

She can check out the MFA Blog and a Facebook group called "MFA Draft '12" for notification updates from students. Good luck!

Accepted - UCF

Rejected - UF, FSU.

It stings. A lot. I thought for sure I'd get into one of those schools. Now I feel like, why did I even bother? I feel like a lousy writer. :/

Congrats on UCF!!!

I'm sure you are NOT a lousy writer... and that's obvious by the fact that you got into an MFA program in a very competitive year.

Celebrate!

Anyone else on the forum applying to writing MFAs this year? Thought I'd give this thread a bump in case there are any lurkers out there. It's the home stretch! Let's freak out together!

I haven't heard from any of my schools yet. It's still (I think?) pretty early, but reading about everyone else's decisions, past and present, has got me all wound up.

MA (creative writing-fiction):

Texas Tech --> rejected (hoping to get wait listed)

UW-Milwaukee --> I saw there was one acceptance to the PhD program today

Mizzou

Ohio University

MFA (fiction)

Tennessee --> I saw that there was one rejection to the PhD program today

Georgia State

The waiting is causing me more stress than I had anticipated. My work production has been pretty much zilch for a week from checking this site and my email.

I'm waiting to hear back, too.  Was doing all right and then I found this site which led to more procrastination.

I've applied for a nonfiction MFA at these schools:

Alabama

Iowa

Montana (Missoula)

Oregon State

Washington University (WashU)

I thought it was a lot of work to get those applications together, and now I see people applying to 10, 12 programs.  I'm such a slacker.

Good idea bumping this thread again. Hopefully we can get it going!

I'm applying to:

University of California, Irvine

University of California, San Diego

University of California, Davis

Mills

Cornell

University of California, Riverside

Columbia

CSU Long Beach

CSU San Bernardino

San Diego State University

All for fiction. The waiting is agony. And I've seen that most of the schools I've applied to usually notify in late Feb or early Mar. I shouldn't be obsessing over this so much. Key word: shouldn't.

American University-accepted already

Portland State University

George Mason University

Boston University

All for poetry. Waiting is the worst! Happy I got into one school, at least.
