Still waiting on UGA and Georgia State. I can understand why State hasn't rendered decisions; the deadline wasn't until Feb 15th. UGA, on the other hand, had a deadline of December 15th! Does it really take this long to determine who will be admitted and who will be rejected?

Hopefully, I'll get the rejection letter today, so I can start organizing my life ( finding a place to lay my head, determining if my husband is going to stay in Atlanta or move with me, renting my house...you know those pesky life changing decisions).

Thanks for the input, telkanuru. I'll probably also look into it. Fortunately their travel subsidy almost covers what it would cost for me to visit, so if I haven't decided by the open house I will probably also go.

Any reservations aside, their offer letter was quite friendly and as detailed as anything that comes out of Chicago.

Santa Barbara is the only US school I'm waiting on. Did you get an interview? I would have thought they would be notifying by now since their deadline was Dec. 5.

No, I didn't get an interview. Actually I am even not sure if my application is under consideration, because they e-mailed me that they do not accept the version of my master transcript which is the official one sent by the university for some weird reason. They demanded me a new copy which is suitable for "their standards" and I din't answer since their reason was so absurd. My impression about this university is not so good as you could guess, it is the only one out of 10 schools I applied which do not accept an official standard version of a transcript officially sent directly by the university

This is crazy! My SO and I are getting admitted at different schools...

Sigh...denied from CUNY. I think for the most part my final decision is made. I've been accepted to one PhD program, which is great (please don't get me wrong)! But sometimes I worry it's a mistake, especially since I've been denied from every other school that I applied to....

I get this feeling, too. I wonder if it's a fluke and I should reevaluate my aptitude for this. I know I've heard of numerous cases where others have done so.

That said, it was a hard year with many schools cutting down cohorts, and many of us who got into one program may have gotten into three or four or five in 2007. If you're on a waitlist somewhere, or were offered a consolatory MA, it's possible you may have even made the cut last year based either on the size of the admitted class or fit issues.

p.s. Congrats to the admit at the University of Northwestingham. Clearly a school of your dreams. :)

I'm glad that I'm not the only one who feels this way. I do have to admit though that the school that I got accepted to is basically an ideal fit for me. I guess that I should be thankful that I don't have to make any difficult decisions. I also have to constantly remind myself that everything happens for a reason.

Postmarked March 4th. I had not heard anything before it arrived. Best of luck.

Anyone getting the sense the results board is being heavily trolled today? Apart from the "University of Northwestingham" acceptance, there are way out of sequence results from Berkeley, Virginia, and Chicago and someone complaining about being accepted to North Dakota.

Didn't you see the program names "History of Fish, Wildlife and Grizzly Bears", "History of Hot Spring Usage" :) There are at least 8-9 troll posts today

Add an acceptance for the History of Industrial Scent Production and History of Fish Wildlife, and Grizzly Bears to the list.

Although I just started my next pseudo history last week The History of Pants: Why We Wear Them Even Though We Don't Want To, so who am I to say that people aren't exploring these unique fields...

Congrats to those of you receiving your acceptances!

I'm curious - I'll be applying for the Fall 2014 season and the professors I've met with about my particular circumstances have been fairly favourable to my chances of getting into a "top" program despite my not being on Michigan's main campus. My question for all of you is: what are your general statistics if you don't mind sharing (e.g. past/present degree programs, writing strength, GPA, GRE scores) and where are you getting accepted to? I'm not looking to compare myself to others, but at the same time... I'm just curious!

All best to those still waiting on the final letters to come rolling in!

Yes, yes, and absolutely yes.  York was in my top 2 programs, and the POI was #1.  So far, it's my only accept, and no idea yet about funding.  I may not know until July, past the point of no return.

I got 2 rejects on Monday, and the OSU one shook me up.  I finally had the will to post it today - it stung.  However, I STILL GOT INTO MY #2.  WTF can I be so sad about?  :)  I've emailed my POI and my financial person, and if it's a bust, I have a deferring option.  However, I want to go.  This is where I want to go and who I want to be with.  So note the last line in my sig.

So while I'm waiting for the final offer, I'm going to go ahead and set up a GoFundMe tomorrow -- financial aid will NOT cover my move or bringing my pets over to any school I attend anyway.  So hey - I've got to start somewhere.

Please don't think like that.  You were selected.  That school made the right choice.  Not being selected at other schools doesn't invalidate your acceptance.  Selecting applicants is an inexact science.  And the applicant pool is different for each school, even those schools that are similar.  Even when the applicant pool is very similar, the school that accepted you might have picked you over Joe, while another school picked Joe over you.  You just don't know.  And included in what you don't know is who is on the adcoms at each school.  Someone reading your writing sample at one school might love it, while someone at another school might think it's just okay.  Most professors in my MA program liked my writing.  I had several papers handed out to the entire class to read and discuss.  I had one professor who thought I sucked and told me so.  We've all run across that professor who doesn't think as highly of our work as others do.  Maybe a professor like that read your writing sample at a certain school.  You just don't know.  There are too many variables for us to try to figure this process out.

Yeah.  I think there's a certain come-down after the admissions frenzy of February.

I was recently rejected from my #1 choice.  Kind of a bummer, but I'm happy with the options I do have.  Another roll of the dice wouldn't be worth the time, expense, or emotional upheaval.

As for trolling of the results board -- it's a pretty dead-on satire of the comments some people leave.  I'm enjoying it!  (But then, I'm not waiting on any schools that now have phony results up...)
