Hi

Did any of the RISD waitlisted candidates heard from them yet?

Thanks

Nope! Still nothing!

I'm going to email them now. The last time I emailed was two weeks ago so it shouldn't appear too bothersome.

Hey I am going to RISD for sure! I accepted today. Are you?
Yes! I got accepted to cranbrook yesterday which is exciting to feel wanted. But after my visit today I'm so going to RISD. I had a great visit n lunch with some students. I'm hoping to start looking for housing or checking out Risd housing. I'm so pumped!!! That's great I heard they're hoping for 4-5 people in our year. It's going to be a great experience! Studio spaces are quite big which is nice.

I'm hoping someone can help me/ give me any info or advise!! I've been admitted to the RCA and the SLADE for the fall for my masters (both in LONDON). I live in los angeles and really want to go to school in london but am having a terrible time deciding which one is right for me. ANY info or thoughts would be appreciated!!

first, congratulations! second, I have no advice to give regarding your prospective schools but I'm sure someone else eventually will. HOWEVER, until then no need to spam the forum with multiple posts of the same question.

Thanks Sseu. Even considering it's double the price?  I just don't see a lot of MICA grads doing much here in NY either, I'm not sure what the advantages of the program are when the price tag is so high. Definitely loved the facilities and people there, but Tyler was pretty great too, at this point i'm confused because I'm not sure what the difference will be as far as working, showing, and teaching post grad-school.  Would love to hear from NY people and tyler and mica grads.

I had several professors from tyler and was not impressed with their abilities at teaching or producing art, one couldn't even win a local competition-which she forced us to vote in--for her-- during class!!-and this was in a small town in Texas mind you. Half the professors in the department went to Tyler and just didn't impress and from what I saw while I was in New York there wasn't much of a presence of alumni or artists there either. MICA seems to be stronger in certain discplines than others but gets attention as a whole a lot better than say a tyler..at least thats my impression.

Hi everybody CalArts or UChicago? Appreciate your feedback.

I'll be attending CalArts. Couldn't be happier about it. Amazing faculty. Amazing location. Amazing history.

Congrats to you wherever you go.

I went to Cal Arts for undergrad. it's a good school - and can be very challenging - but you also need to be very self motivated

He anyone going to Chicago? It would be really cool to get to know people going there... PM me if you want :)

So what did your decision end up being??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Halp!

VCU vs. Notre Dame. I'm having a tough time deciding here.

Got funding from both-- VCU is obviously a great university to study design at, filled with talented people. Feel like I'd grow a lot there. But Notre Dame has the clout and connections that could help me thrive post-grad school. Their design program is... sort of unknown. VCU = 2 years and ND = 3 (yikes!)

Thoughts? What would you do?

They sent an email yesterday saying they had heard back from everyone they had accepted and the final list was made.

I didn't get in.

Sad.

*Edit*

I was wait-listed for the 2 year programme though, maybe the 3 year one hasn't been finalised yet.

Hi everyone, congratulations to those who got into schools this go round and best of luck to those preparing portfolios for next year. Here's a link to a great free video series for those who need to freshen up or prepare for the rigorous literary aspects of an MFA program. Several grad students who I know have mentioned how the theory aspect of their education was the most difficult initially, so this is a great way for us all to get a head start! Again, congratulations and best of luck to everyone!
