The work and website look great! What website service/platform are you using? I'm trying to set up something similar, but haven't been satisfied with a lot of what I've tried (livebook, viewbook, squarespace, etc...)

In the meantime I've been using tumblr as a way to publish some of my work, but it is still a limiting platform in some ways.

It's great seeing everyone's work! I thought I would post my website as well. I have some newer pieces (in a similar vein as the image on my home page) to add and need to re-document some work.

Always up for some feedback!

There was a similar thread posted for a previous application season, which I found very interesting. It is a nice way to see artists' work that you might not normally come across, learn what this set of applicants are putting out there, and, of course, create a nice dialogue.

I am still very much in the narrowing down phase of choosing where to apply, so any suggestions for schools where my style and concerns might fit would be appreciated, as well as any general comments that you might like to make.

Good luck to all applicants this year. I wish you great success, and look forward to seeing a sampling of your work.

My work can be seen here.

Let it roll.

Here is a link to some of my work. Thanks in advance for checking it out, any critiques are welcome.

My website is:

All feedback (positive and negative) is definitely accepted. If, as many of you have suggested, I should consider applying to some more "prestigious" programs (in order have any hope of attaining a future teaching job with the degree), I would especially love any feedback regarding which schools/programs I should consider applying to.

Thanks for any feedback you can give! :)

@DrawMinimal - Great work! We both seem to get our inspiration from the natural world. You might want to look at U. New Mexico or West Virginia University, as both seem to emphasize and encourage environmental (but not necessarily "environmentalist") approaches and discourses. Not sure about their emphasis on drawing, specifically. Either way, I LOVE your work, and I love that you have such a passion for drawing and mark-making techniques, keep it up! It makes your work feel very fresh and original.

Hi Madeline, Loius, Allen and Josh  - really enjoyed your work!!

Here's some of my personal work...

Hello to the Cafe!

I've been reading/lurking this forum for quite some time but this is my first actual post. I graduated from the Oregon College of Art & Craft two years ago, and like most of you out there, am starting to toss around the idea of going to Grad school. My portfolio is a work in progress and probably won't be ready to seriously submit for at least another year, but I do have some pieces that I feel strongly about and would love to hear any of you wonderful peoples opinions/thoughts on them. I've been working figuratively for the past few years and see that as the direction my work will take me through Grad school as well. Still compiling a list of future schools to apply to, and have heard of many great universities here in the US (including University of South Florida, mainly because of their huge financial aid packages) but also looking into programs in Scotland, London, and Vancouver BC. My goal is to one day be a working studio artist, and producing enough work to have shows and pay the bills, teaching on the other hand isn't exactly where I see my calling I guess you could say.. haha.  Anyways, thank you for any critique and please let me know if you have any program recommendations or places you think I should research further.

Best of luck to you all!!

Hello everyone, first time caller/ long time listener here, just thought I'd share my work and participate for once.

Any feedback and/or criticism would be more than welcome and greatly appreciated. Like many of you, I've still got paintings to add to the portfolio, statements to write, and transcripts to mail. I graduated with my BFA in 2010 and I've been researching grad programs ever since. The process of applying for an MFA is a huge undertaking, and this forum has been such an incredible resource. You're a very talented, intelligent, and insightful bunch. I've seen your art, I've read about your experiences, and I share in your aspirations and fears. As Prince once sang, this is what it sounds like, when doves cry. ;-)

erica, your pc4pc series rules. the coherency of the execution and concept = stand out for me. i like that you decided to vary the sizes/dimensions of the individual portraits in 'baby jessica and friends', it echoes the re-sizeable windows where these (self) portraits exist in thier original iteration. that display feels 'internet' to me. like your paintings of w33d in jars too :) other moments: the buddha on the nightstand in 'farewell to intimacy', whenever you paint a laptop...these are nice details.  where are you applying?

Hello artists!

I have been out of school for a very looong time &  out of touch with academia. Never the less, I am not giving up on getting an MFA, hopefully from somewhere within a few hrs of NYC. I would greatly appreciate any feed back about this portfolio of paintings. They are presented in no particular order.  http://rekporfolio.tumblr.com/

Do you think I have a shot at Tyler? Any other suggestions?

Thank you!!

Thanks a lot for the feedback, Alex. I just realized I posted under the wrong topic, since I'll be applying for 2014. D'oh! I really enjoyed your Screengrams, black books, and the serial photographs. Your work has that investigative, anti-authoritative streak I know and love. Lots of fascinating material you're exploring. To answer your question, I'm applying to UC Santa Barbara, U New Mexico, UC Boulder, Tyler, U South Florida, Wayne State University (here in Detroit), Rutgers, Syracuse, Boston U, and possibly U of Arizona. (5 down, 5  to go) How about yourself?
