Does anybody have any news about either MIT BCS, Caltech CNS, Princeton Neuroscience or Brown Neuroscience interview invites? :S

I'm literally losing my mind waiting..

It's been posted previously here that MIT BCS has sent out invites, the same goes for Caltech CNS.

It looks like someone has posted about MIT BCS today. An international student has gotten an invitation to interview at MIT. So, may be there is still a little hope.

I should have thought to figure out who all of you were, I think I have a good idea (I have the baby picture in the interview group...).

Hopefully we will know within two weeks

Hello! I'm the one with the graduation picture in the facebook group. I don't think we talked much, but I remember being very impressed.

I suggest for you to contact the program coordinator. I really think rejection notice is way better than getting nothing and waiting...

Keep your head up! You have great interviews ahead of you!

Thanks.  It is just really disappointing after they spend so much time getting you excited about their program.  And one of my interviewers outright told me that I was a shoe-in.  Oh well...

brown told me in december they had finished invites .

Hmm are you sure?

I mean, the deadline for application was Dec, 5th, I think. Were they that fast to review the applications?

Did you get an invite?

I'm sure it's really disappointing but FutureNeuroGrad is right, you have a bunch of wonderful interviews ahead. I like to believe that things happen for a reason, so I know you'll end up in a program that you choose and that's a great fit for you. Keep your head up!

No I did not get an invite, I was in email contact with the director, and on Dec 23rd I was told all interview invites were sent, they interview less than 20 people.

Hello all,  this information might be useful specially for internationals:

I am south american applicant to US programs. I been  called by:

NYU/cns: not official,  I asked to my POI  and he said me that I will receive an  e-mail on february for an  Skype interview on late feb.

Brown: I received an e-mail for an interview on18 jan.

Purdue: They accept my one days ago.

UChicago/computational neuroscience: today I received an invitation for interview.

I write to MIT and  program administrator (Robert)  and said me that  this week the commission will finish  to review the computational  neuroscience (my track) applications. Therefore, I assume that if they not call me this week I am  out.

I hope that the information will be useful, specially for internationals because It seems that NYU have different procedures for internationals  and also Brown.

So: les deseo mucha suerte a todos, especialmente a los internacionales,

good luck :)

I also contacted MIT/Brown today.
MIT: You're correct.

Brown: they confirmed they have already sent out all the invitations. It looks like they received nearly 200 applications.

Question. Has everyone who applied to Stanford heard back from them already? Or rather, are there people who haven't heard back yet? I really just want to be rejected already so that I can stop stressing out. haha. I have this small glimmer of hope and want to focus on other interviews, but can't since it's still in the back of my mind. Thanks.

My Stanford rejection just got in the mailbox today. I'm an international living in southamerica. It said my rejection letter was sent out on January 22nd.

How many professors do you typically interview with during a weekend? I thought the average was like four, but I have seven at Berkeley o_O

And how much preparation do you typically do for each professor? I was planning on skimming a couple recent papers for each one and looking at lab websites but will I look like an ignant fool if I only do this????

I think thats a good amount of preparation. Maybe more or less depending on your interest in their work.

Is anyone who's going to UCSD staying for saturday? I'm super excited about the list of activities they sent out!

I have been on 2 interview weekends and they consisted of interviews with 5 and 6 faculty respectively.

After going through some of them, I feel like really extensive preparation is not necessary. I felt comfortable knowing enough about their work to engage in conversation, but many of the questions that I asked them were generated spontaneously.

4 at my interview last weekend, 6 at the one coming up this weekend.  Before my last interview, I thoroughly read a review article written by each professor.  But it didn't end up helping much (*grumble*)...
