Very happy :)

Congratulations that's awesome.

Also heard back from Yale, M.Div via email on Feb 4. I'm ecstatic, but nervous about financial aid.   Applying to CDSP and VTS for Mar. 1. 3.37 GPA. I don't think anyone from the MAR program has heard news, though.

Josh,

Vanderbilt is so strange. A friend of mine, who called the school, was told that admissions decisions would be made by the first week of March. It's quite weird how these few Vandy acceptances have been like a week apart from each other.

To somewhat calm your fears, Yale seems to be generous in funding students. They offered me a full package last year, and I heard the same from other students that had been accepted as well :).

That made my day. More hopeful now, thanks!  :)

the vandy news is true....from what i can see....those awarded full funding packages are notified first.

That is probably the case.

From YDS admissions:

"Thank you for your email!  Some MDIV notices have gone out; most have not.  MAR notices are incumbent on their individual faculty readers, many of whom do not turn their decisions in until close to our internal deadline for them, rendering early notice impossible before March 15th.

You have my sympathies; I remember well how anxious the waiting period can be."

MAR applicants should breathe easy, at least for a while.

Having applied to all MTS and MA programs, I am currently bemoaning the month of February. The first week of March seems lightyears away.

Anyone else becoming increasingly impatient?

I spoke with a gentleman in the Fordham theology department today. He said the admissions committee has made their decisions and has given them to the Graduate School Admissions office. He said the first week of March is when applicants are most likely to be notified.

In other words, the names are just sitting in a file somewhere in NYC right now.

A word of friendly advice if any of you are admitted to the Vanderbilt MTS. It may be worth your while to request more funding than the initial offer.

Would it be unreasonable to ask for like 90%? If not, how much would you consider to me too much?

I haven't heard a word from Fordham in ages. I hope they remembered to consider my application. I was late for the 2012 season, and they said they'd be happy to consider me for 2013. Here's to hoping.

Coffee Kid, why dud you downvote this?

Ha! I didn't know you could track the votes! Well, you caught me!

I voiced this before, but I have had a very different experience with Vanderbilt and their funding than one or two people here have made out. There's no harm in asking for more money. But, again, my experience is they make pretty generous offers. I got my best financial offer from them of 12 schools when I applied to for masters level work. Maybe it was fit, who knows.

so I guess Yale has already been accepting MAR applicants, contrary to whatever their official line might be via admissions department inquiries :P (source matthew2725 checking app status thread)

for those applying for HDS MTS degrees, what does it say for the "status" on your applications online?

mine still says "submitted"

I suspect that, in the case of MARc applicants, notifications will go out sporadically as individual faculty members submit their decisions. So while one concentration may receive advanced notice, other concentrations may have to wait till the deadline for their respective faculty to report back. That's how I interpreted the note from YDS admissions, at least.
