I need to find a project to do to keep my mind off of all the worrying. I've been browsing pintrest to find DIY projects. I'm thinking about refinishing my bedroom furniture, unfortunately it's too cold outside to start that. Anyone have any suggestions?

You should totally make a Weebly website! ( http://www.weebly.com ) Seriously, it's free and fun! :)

Sammehh, crocheting sounds fun, I've never tried it. This is the perfect time to learn something new! There are too many hills in this city to run lol.

Thanks autismadvocate! I know what I'll be doing the rest of the night now.

I think Texas State is one of the latest schools to notify applicants, so I know I'll be waiting for awhile.

From what I've read, it can take a long time to hear back from Texas State. I think they may start notifying applicants in March but it can take as long as the middle of May to hear a response. I guess it just depends on which pool you are in. I hope we are both in the earlier pools. :) May seems so far away.

I'm pretty nervous since I am a CSD major at Pitt, but I got a two Bs last spring and that hurt my GPA so now I have like a 3.6 something in major and out. Applied to LIU-Brooklyn, Adelphi, Temple, Pitt, West Chester University and Bloomsburg University

I have kind of a bad feeling about Adelphi since I saw people have heard back from them already. Luckily they weren't my top choice but I am pretty nervous about not getting into anything since I don't know what my next step after that would be.

OMGosh autismadvocate I love this website, I'm making one right now. I like your DIY thinking!!

Isn't it great?! I don't know the first thing about coding, but I actually made my first website when I was in high school thanks to Weebly! :) That's actually what I used to make Autism Spectrum Explained. :D :D :D

When you finish your website, you'll have to share it with us! What's the subject?

Bleh. There's no way all the app materials for Jackson State are going to be in by the March 1st deadline so I guess that app is out. My husband emailed them, hoping there was some consideration as long as the application itself is in, but nope, they adhere to a firm deadline for all materials. I'm suddenly much more nervous now that his list is down to 5 schools.

Hi everyone! So I wanted to bring up something that I've been worrying about (on top of everything else related to graduate school).

So my first choice school is Montclair University in NJ, and it's application is due March 1 (finished it forever ago, but oh well). I imagine this means that they will be getting back to me sometime in the beginning to mid April. But, all of my other school applications were due mid January to beginning of February, so I expect to be hearing back from them soon.

Do schools ever give you a specific amount of time to respond to them by? So, let's say WPU accepts me next week... will I have time to wait and respond until I have received all of my results?

In general, most schools want decisions by April 15.

I need to revise my Poll vote for this thread. A month ago, I was feeling little anxiety, but lately I am shooting through the roof!! I need some consolation... some kind of update. Anything!

@NCAR: You are not alone!! I have actually been experiencing minor health issues because of the stress (also considering my potential switch).

It will all come to light soon! Isn't it true that we should start hearing back from most schools beginning next week? Or was this in one of my panic dreams?!?

Is anyone indulging in scandal tonight? There's nothing like a good series to take my mind of off all the stress.

Me! Me! I definitely need to get my mind off of waiting... and my schools aren't notifying until mid-March  :(

What's funny is my 62/yo Dad loves the show too. We'll probably text about it later. My situation is like yours and I don't think I'll be hearing back from schools until mid-late March. I applied to a lot of schools so, I'm afraid I'll be inundated with rejections.

Sleep has become impossible on this end too, and it's begun to take a tole on my day-to-day! I was so stressed out this week, I thought I deleted the ENTIRE family contact database in my research lab. I was like, yup, I'm definitely fired, called my manager, she had no idea what happened and told me to write a summary and close out.

Sure enough, the next morning, there was absolutely nothing wrong. I still don't have a clue what I thought I did! No files were missing, and the "error message" I saw pop up was part of the standard log-in protocol.

@NCAR, sorry if this is random, but did I see you around the forum this time last year? If I'm correct and this is also your second year applying, GOOD LUCK!

Last year, I was ahead of the game :). Realized I was going to apply, so I researched and scoped stats.

As for this year, the timeline of finding out is brutal; I just want to KNOW!! It's always tomorrow, and then again tomorrow, and... oh, nope! e-mail's full of Nordstrom Sale updates, MapMyRun tips, and the ol' boarding school's request for donations.

I just try to remember:

Good things come to those who wait!

so I am waiting REALLY hard.

You know when you give a girl too many options she never gets things done, loll I feel like a kid in a candy store. I plan to make a website about learning disabilities, something I can share with parents that struggle with their kids and feel like no on is on their side. I'm all for that....and then there's making a website about my hobby which is graphic novels/comics loll I love drawing and entertaining..

Once I'm done with the website I'll definitely be sharing it with you. I was checking out your website right now and I was in shock when a host infantized her questions to the teen with autism. You got some really good stuff going on there :)

Up until last week I was sitting at about a 4 on the scale from 1-5. Now I am officially freaking out. I'm at the point where I am obsessed with checking my email, the program website, the results page here, results search page, back to checking my email, and then reading everything I can find on how to get accepted into graduate school (just short of begging). I can barely pull myself away from my laptop.

Based on the results page from last year, I might find out all of my program decisions within the next three weeks. If I am going to do anything else to make an impact on their decisions (visit campus, meet professors, send out emails) then I need to do it now while ad-com deliberations are in progress.

Oh yeah, I'm also totally overthinking things! lol

Well, whichever website you make, I can't wait to check it out!!!! (And, you know, you can make more than one! lol Come to think of it, I think I've probably made about eight weebly websites over the past four years.)

Thanks so much! I'm so glad you saw that video! Yeah, it is so sad when that happens. I could not believe that they sang a WHOLE SONG telling that kid that because he was autistic it was a miracle he had a friend (and let's face it, that kid wasn't his friend, seriously all the guy ever did was sit with him at the table). I cannot IMAGINE being that child. My sister gets that kind of behavior all the time. I don't remember if I mentioned it in the site, but do you know I can't call my sister cute? Not even if she's wearing a green beanie that looks like a frog (which you could put on VOLDEMORT'S head and he'd look adorable because it's just that cute) or hugging her adorable plush Utahraptor (which again, I say, even if Voldemort was doing it we'd all agree he looked cute because it is THAT cute). The reason why is that phrases like, "You're so cute!" have been used to demean and degrade Caley over her entire lifetime. I introduced her to one of my friends (thankfully not too close of a friend) once and it was just disturbing because she immediately switched to baby voice and fawned over Caley and talked down to her (and let me make it clear, Caley's probably smarter than my friend) and, yes, she told her how cute she was and literally patted her on the head. My friend was well-meaninged as all of the negative narrative is, but wow was that offensive and Caley deals with that all the time. It's just upsetting. And once you notice the narrative, you'll start to see it everywhere....

It's up to you, but that is the point that I'd pull away all together. I considered it earlier when I was super anxious. Thankfully, my anxiety died down on its own as I came to the realization that it doesn't matter how much time I spend fretting, the decision is out of my hands at this point and I have no control over it. And since I have no control, I may as well stop worrying and spend my time on other pursuits.

Reading this was like reading a paragraph written about me! This is EXACTLY how I am acting! So don't feel too silly, because I'm sure we aren't alone! :)
