kateosee Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Lots of NE and Midwest unis are closed because of the snow. That can be one reason for the slowdown.
ashiepoo72 Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 I'd bet on Northwestern notifying today, and its results tend to show up on the website, so I've been checking that every ten minutes. I think I'll shut my phone off for a few hours to save me from temptation. Magellan1521 1

a.rev Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Well, I just turned in my paperwork to take comps in a month. Hopefully the panic from that will take my mind off of waiting for applications. (Silver lining?) I haven't noticed but is anyone else applying to Boston University? I've seen Boston College a few times, but not BU. I guess I'll go back to grading discussion boards and procrastinating on my thesis.

Yes, yes rub it in when I literally can't even get out of my driveway Actually I don't much mind because it gives me an excuse to be a hermit. My dog, on the other hand, is not happy about the situation. (That is, there being snow higher than her- she's enjoying her mommy being home for the day!) I'm from NY, so to be honest something just feels wrong about it. Also we had three inches here last year (grand total) and UNC shut down for a week. I can only imagine what would happen if people couldn't get out of their driveways.
dr. t Posted February 2, 2015 Author Posted February 2, 2015 There may be snow, but after last night's game, I'm walking on sunshine. rmw 1

ashiepoo72 Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Congrats to the Davis acceptance glad to see some movement on the board
ToomuchLes Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 I havent heard anything from Rice, Ann Arbor, U of Washington, or UCI.
ashiepoo72 Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 I don't think those programs have started notifying. Do you expect them to soon?
Heimat Historian Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Leventel, have you heard from all the other programs on your list? I ask because you only said there were a few you hadn't heard from. Specifically, I'm interested if you've heard anything from Indiana.
ashiepoo72 Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Looks like a lot of those snowy states have been notifying other disciplines so I don't know if the weather explains why there's radio silence on the history side. I haven't heard anything from Indiana, I think those notifications will come later this week.
Heimat Historian Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 I certainly hope so! Indiana is high on my list. Plus, one of my letter writers got her PhD from Indiana.
ToomuchLes Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 I havent heard anything from my programs. The only communication Ive had was from a POI informing me that theyve reviewed my app.
birchleaf Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Ann Arbor has a snow day today, just so you know
ashiepoo72 Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 (edited) LeventeL--Well that sounds promising! Edited February 2, 2015 by ashiepoo72
KBHistorian Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 I've been accepted into the North Carolina State University Public History MA program!! It is dependent on my submitting my official transcripts. I was not expecting to hear back so soon!! jshaffer11, merivo, jdlsutton and 2 others 5
dr. t Posted February 2, 2015 Author Posted February 2, 2015 An early Brown reject - going to assume informal communication?
KBHistorian Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Thanks ellebe and elinen!! I think it's time for that celebratory drink!
kblooms Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 I would assume that the Brown reject as informal, as I have received no word myself one way or the other. And it's a bit early
greengoose Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 I just got my first email from a professor (who indicated interest in my proposed research topic) letting me know I was recommended for admission by the history department. I didn't email any professors before applying, so haven't talked to him one before -- what's the typical etiquette in responding to these unofficial pre-admit emails? Any advice? jillcicle 1
Chiqui74 Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Gah. I just saw the Brown reject. No email for me and nothing on the website.
