bchan Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 Wondering who was the one who posted today (29th) on Results that you just received funding from Purdue? What's your main area, i.e. were you in the philScience/mind/language wait-list category? Will you accept? (Was it you, dgswaim?)
friend of frege Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 I wasn't the one who posted on Results but I was recently offered funding by Purdue (had been accepted and waitlisted for funding a while back) and will probably decline the offer on Monday. listed areas of interest were language and metaphysics. Good luck! philadam and Wait For It... 2
bchan Posted March 30, 2014 Posted March 30, 2014 Thanks for the info, Friend of Frege, and congrats (assume you have somewhere better). Purdue emailed on Friday saying that someone just declined an offer that day, so I was now first on the wait list for that area. Were you offered funding on Friday?

If it were me, I would have posted something overly exclamatory (probably in all caps) on the acceptance thread. I've had not contact from the department since being wait-listed... unfortunately.
Differance Posted March 30, 2014 Posted March 30, 2014 I declined my funded offer from Purdue today. I hope this helps someone!!!! My AOIs are 19th/20th century continental and social/political, broadly put. Best of luck. philadam 1
philadam Posted March 30, 2014 Posted March 30, 2014 (edited) I've yet to hear anything from Purdue. All this talk of declined offers is definitely adding some intensity to waiting. Differance: what time did you decline? Edited March 30, 2014 by philadam

Differance: what time did you decline? Just around mid-day today, via email. Since it's Saturday, I imagine it's quite possible that no one will see my email until sometime on Monday! philstudent1991 Posted March 30, 2014 Posted March 30, 2014 I'll be taking myself off the waitlist at Brandeis, hope that helps someone! Wait For It... 1

bar_scene_gambler Posted March 31, 2014 Posted March 31, 2014 Declined waitlist at U Houston if anyone is interested.
Weltgeist Posted March 31, 2014 Posted March 31, 2014 is there anyone with interests in 19th and/or 20th century continental philosophy who has an offer at Northwestern and is planning on declining it? I'm on the wait-list and it's starting to look like a better option that I thought it might have been.
wandajune Posted March 31, 2014 Posted March 31, 2014 (edited) I accepted my offer from Wisconsin after visiting over the weekend! I have declined all of my other offers (see signature). Hopefully this helps some of you! To those of you waitlisted at Wisconsin--it seems that they have about eight offers of admission out, and three of those have officially accepted including myself. My AOI is ethics, broadly. Edited March 31, 2014 by wandajune Griswald, Wait For It..., philstudent1991 and 1 other 4

Wait For It... Posted March 31, 2014 Author Posted March 31, 2014 A friend recently informed me that he declined his Tulane offer and removed himself from their funding wait list. Both he and I hope that others will benefit from the decline.
SamStone Posted March 31, 2014 Posted March 31, 2014 Anyone considering (or know someone planning on) declining an offer from the UW-Milwaukee MA program?
Wait For It... Posted March 31, 2014 Author Posted March 31, 2014 More news: a friend of mine today turned down a fully funded offer from SUNY Buffalo.
Ulixes Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 I feel like this week is the calm before the storm; everyone's biding their time, waiting to see what will happen. Hopefully, magically, we'll all get off the waitlists we want to get off of, get into the schools we want to get into, and find the fabled White Unicorn of Yore ladened with gobs and gobs of funding. Ulixes Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 How's the funding at Hogwarts? Better than Virginia Tech, but not as good as Durmstrang. So, about $15 and all the chocolate frogs you can eat. ProspectiveGradStudent, stressedout, ta_pros_to_telos and 1 other 4
