purplegrey Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 Is it just me or has this week been unbearably long? I really hope we find out before April 15th because finals start on April 16th. It would be nice to know where I stand before going into finals instead of having this in the back of my mind while studying. Anyone else feeling this way? b39 1
Fenris70 Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 As long as we find out before May 1st I'll be fine because that's the deadline to accept college offers. Fingers crossed! I just wish we would hear, even if it's a denial.
goodnews Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 Letter just came, dated the same day rosi changed, have four weeks to respond, June 1st deposit. No funding. Now it's real haha

goodnews Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 I definitely plan to work, a little bit, while in my MSW. Right now, all of my jobs save one (which I will likely have to quit, but it's with a friend and I promised I would help her hire my replacement once I ditched her) are like... either self-employed (like tutoring and editing work) or I am on the relief roster for an agency, so I can pretty much pick which shifts I want. So I do plan to keep the two relief gigs but drastically scale it back... right now I work at least two relief shifts a week, and for at least my first month or two of school, I'd want that to be like, 2-3 shifts per month. Just enough that I have some extra money coming in and can actually stay on the relief rosters (since it would be awesome to still be on those relief rosters once I graduate, just in case) but hopefully not so much that it will really get in the way of school. Then after a month or two, I can make a decision about whether I need to scale back even more, keep it the same, or increase to 4-6 shifts per month. This is also my plan, won't be working as much as I usually do but will need to be making at least a little bit to get me through. Do you mind me asking if you are already in the gta and/if you will be moving closer to school? So many things to consider.
lickitysplit Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 (edited) Hello everyone! I haven't posted on this thread since last year, but have been following itclosely again as I completed my applications to Lakehead and Dalhousie. This was my second time applying -- I was placed on a waitlist last year and in the end was not admitted. I just wanted to share with everyone that Lakehead has updated the application status in the "myinfo" portal! I applied for both the Orillia and Thunder Bay campus and was admitted to Orillia this afternoon (My heart is still pounding)! Good luck to everyone else pursuing this path, I understand the anxiety and turmoil that comes with the waiting game quite well! Edited March 26, 2015 by lickitysplit Leah_N 1
Guest Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 Just an FYI- it seems York may be making some progress with their decisions today? I just got an email that I am waitlisted. Which may mean nothing for today specifically, but it means if your myfile still says No Decision Yet, it doesn't necessarily mean a rejection!

Definitely my back-up plan incase I dont get into U of T or Laurier but it feels amazing to know my back-up plan is in place now!!!! magfish and Leah_N 2
MSW/HBSW 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 Rejected from Lakehead (both campuses) Waitlisted for York (through email, no update on MyFile)
PregnantSeahorse Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 Waitlisted to York as well.... after having been waitlisted last year as well Fuck.
magfish Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 I got into Lakehead Thunder Bay (anyone else?)! Heart is pounding and I am doing some combination of crying and laughing and feeling hysterical. Even though the HBSW is not my first choice (I don't really want to live that far away, and it starts in July so I would have to cut my summer job short and turn down explore if I got that opportunity this summer) it is so so so relieving to actually be admitted somewhere. It makes me feel like I have a chance at the other programs and it is just so nice to know that I will actually be doing something next year. I finally feel like this is an achievable goal. Congrats to everyone else who got in and good luck to everyone still waiting on acceptances!!
rachelmsw Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 (edited) @magfish I also just heard from Lakehead Orillia. Congratulations! I will be going to U of T, but I looked into the Lakehead program in pretty good detail and it looks fantastic! A great step towards msw if that is your end goal or attaining a bsw and being able to work as a social worker! People on here tend to speak highly of it too! Kudos to you. Also, good luck in hearing back from other schools! Edited March 26, 2015 by rachelmsw magfish 1
b39 Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 My myfile says reviewed-unsuccessful wasn't really holding my breath for York though its so hard to get in. Congrats to those who got wait list or accepted
CDS_TO Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 This York stuff seems weird! I am in the boat where I have not heard anything from them yet, but with people getting acceptances, rejections and wait lists I don't really understand how they can't know everybody's status yet! This waiting game is starting to get to me!

Congrats to those who got wait list or accepted Booo Mine too! So sorry to hear I wasn't expecting to get in - tough competition and they didn't accept me last year. Congrats to everyone who's gotten in or waitlisted !! Hoping to hear good news from Windsor and U of T (who waitlisted me last year - maybe good sign?).

AMetallo Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 Congrats to those who got in so far! For the ones who didn't don't give up!! I know how upsetting it can be to get that rejection letter! York is definitely very competitive. I got rejected last year as well. Does anyone know for the HBSW Lakehead program is it a five day course load or four day?
Kate_14 Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 Congrats to everyone getting acceptances! I just found out that I was also admitted to the post-degree program in Orillia even though it's my back up plan, it's great to know I have something in place. Good luck to all of you still waiting to hear back !

Kate_14 Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 Same here! Congrats. Do you know how many days a week the program is (during the course part of it) Unfortunately I don't - I've tried to find out more about the program on the website but can't seem to find anything. If anyone else has more information I'd love to know this as well. Also, if anyone has graduated from the 1-year Lakehead program, how did you find it?
Kate_14 Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 Same here! Congrats. Do you know how many days a week the program is (during the course part of it) I actually did some more digging and found more information here: http://navigator.lakeheadu.ca/~/Catalog/ViewCatalog.aspx?pageid=viewcatalog&catalogid=19&topicgroupid=9084

If you search "Honours Bachelor of Social Work 1 Yr" in the calendar you can find more information on courses.

Up in the enxtthursday few months regardless of what they are
Fenris70 Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 Denied to the HBSW at Lakehead, which is okay because I decided going there wasn't the best route for me anyways. Here's hoping I get into MSW! No decision yet anywhere else.
