Fall 2015 Acceptances (!)

Recommended Posts

I just got into UCLA!! I am totally in shock right now. Felicity Nussbaum.

CONGRATS :D Any indication if you're the first draft pick and more emails are to come? Or have they all been sent out and you're the only TGCer to get an admit?

Edit: well I guess hypervodka's admit answers that question! Congrats hypervodka!

I just got into UCLA.... omg? omg? This one is really throwing me for a loop. I just assumed the implied rejection because I didn't get an email this morning. So, let me continue to say: IT AIN'T OVER TIL IT'S OVER.

Holy cow! Is that 4 for 4 now? At this point I wonder if you'll have a clean sweep! Congrats again, Hypervodka!!

Last time I applied (different discipline), I was completely shut out, with one silent waitlist (no email or anything; they told me AFTER I was finally rejected that I'd been on the list).

Getting into to all the programs would be a miracle, but not a particularly useful one. It'd just turn me into that annoying humblebragger complaining about how HARD it is to DECIDE from ALL of these GREAT SCHOOLS :( :( :(,  deserving neither sympathy nor--well, nor friends, really.

Noooo... I don't think anyone will think of you that way. I know I won't, at least. You've been a fount of information here for several months, and you've become a fount of inspiration now (even though I usually avoid that overtone-laden word). And as I like to remind folks who start going down that path of blaming-the-acceptees, you can only choose ONE program. The rest will presumably open up to the waitlists. In other words, in most cases it's not like the offers you reject are slots that will disappear. It all works out. :)

Your last bit made me smile and laugh because as I read it, I heard it like a Hamlet monologue in my head. Love it.

CONGRATS! If I could do the Carlton and do it justice, I would record myself and post it to celebrate the fruits of your labor :)

OMG. I accidentally down voted this (damn mobile!) I'm sorry! I'm going to try to figure out how to fix it when I get home.

In any event, congrats hypervodka and well-said, WT!

I received my first rejection/acceptance! I applied for Temple's PhD program, but they were unable to accept me due to funding. However, they did offer me admissions to the MA program, which also offers no funding for any MA student. So it's a step in the right direction, I think. Unfortunately, I more than likely will not accept this offer unless I can find a sufficient amount of outside funding, which is very unlikely.

Just found out that I won't know about funding/get an official email for the PhD program I was accepted into until late February, so I'll come clean.  I was accepted at UC Santa Barbara for English Lit as well!

Congrats!  I got accepted there a few years ago and I visited campus.  If you have any questions, let me know.  It's a great program.

Hello all!

I was super active here when I was applying to programs but have fallen off the wayside a bit! Congratulations on all of the wonderful acceptances to all of you wonderful applicants! I've got one rejection under my belt (Duke) with 8 programs left to go! Ways to distract myself from checking my email every ten minutes include: counting backwards from 1000 by 7, making really long crochet chains because it's the only crochet I know, fangirling over Harper Lee news, sledding using lunch trays I stole from my high school in 11th grade, and tenderly loving whiskey.

GradCafe has been a little haven of joy and support, and I just wanted to get in on this! xx
