Just got wait-listed at Montclair... I'm dyinggg to hear from Kean... Apparently there were over 900 applications there so I'm not feeling great about my chances. Good luck everyone!

Ahh yikes that's crazy! Just curious where did you hear that?

I am in the same boat! I currently take classes at Kean in their SLP Pre-Professional Program and I really find their faculty and staff to be extremely helpful. Also, Kean doesn't have a cohort program so it is more flexible what classes you take when, they also offer a few online courses, and later afternoon/evening classes while Montclair's courses are mainly during the day, but I don't really know a lot of the more specific things about Montclair (like just how helpful their professors are) because I have not taken any classes there.

Does anyone have any input/opinions on Kean vs. Montclair? I'm trying to make a pros/cons list to figure out where to go and was wondering if anyone was willing to help!

I messaged you both!

When I contacted Kean in dec to see if they had received a rec letter of mine they told me they had received over 750 applicants at that time - 900 by Jan wouldn't shock me!

I was in the post bac program at kean and one of my classmates, who is still taking classes there, was told by one of the professors on the admissions board. Very discouraging information

Has anyone else not heard anything from Brooklyn College?  My application portal still says my application was sent to the department for review.

I hope this is not deja vu' from last year. I waited until late April for a rejection

They just had another set of interviews this past Friday.

Have you tried calling?

I emailed the grad deputy. I was told, last week, they were still going through applications and giving interviews.

I have applications out at many schools. All the CUNYs, NYU, TC, Mercy, LIU Brooklyn... That's about it, I think.

Interviews next week with Lehman and this week with Mercy - does anyone know what questions are asked there? Please let me know! Thanks.

How did those interviews go? What kind of questions did they ask?

Hi! If anyone is going to LIU brooklyn let me know :) I will be attending there in the fall

I just called Brooklyn College and was told no decision has been made on my application.

However, I did not like the hesitation in the answer when it was given. :/

Anyone been in touch with St John's or Touro about when we can expect to hear from them?  I've seen a few people were accepted to St John's in Feb and early March, but it only seemed to be a few ...

Just to follow up on this - I emailed the program director at Touro today, she said they'd be sending out the first round of acceptances in mid April ... they're delayed due to just moving to a new location.

Does anyone know anything about St John's program? Like its reputation, info on faculty, diversity, anything?

Does anyone know more about Teachers College Columbia's program? Any pros/ cons? I understand that its bilingual bicultural focused, but are there medical placements, etc.?

The school owns NY-Presbyterian Hospital and 2 affiliated med schools :) so you should be okay. Also, no matter where you go, ASHA requires all students to complete a medical externship. Are you interested in medical cases too?

That's great to know, thanks! I am very interested in medical cases and was nervous that TC was more education based. Do you have any additional insight or opinions about the program? especially as compared to NYU or CUNYs?

I went to the St. John's grad school open house and was slightly dissapointed. The program director wasn't the warmest person and couldnt even tell us what the tuition was. The program is only 48 credits but takes 4 semesters and one summer which makes no sense to me. I guess the placements are only 1 credit? Im still confused about it. Pretty campus but the clinic is off campus and I didn't get to see it.

Has anyone else still not heard anything from Kean or Seton Hall? I see that people have gotten both acceptances and rejections, and I haven't heard anything at all.  I'm also waiting from William Paterson and Stockton but haven't seen people posting about those yet.

The cohort is highly diverse. I met an alumni and I was told the program is a proponent of academic, cultural and linguistic diversity and this trickles all the way to their PhD programs. They prefer to recruit those coming from business, theater to expose students to various ways of approaching problems. There are additional credits you can earn as part of an optional clinical placement abroad for clefts and feeding due to their affiliation with Operation Smile. They sent students to Bolivia. I think they have added more countries (might have to double check). If you want a global health preparation in SLP or if you plan to pursue a PhD after, Columbia's a great place to attend. The downside I learned is it's very expensive unlike the CUNYs.

Just received an acceptance to William Paterson. I am not sure if they sent out all acceptances as I have heard that they work in waves, but their deposit is due April 15 and their graduate assistantship application is due April 1st, so I would think they may have sent out all acceptances given that the deadline is so soon for the GA.
