PhDEducation Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 Great question, I battle with it as well one school has been Under Review for a lengthy time and many on this site are not Education and don't post often unless it is Harvard or Columbia so it is hard to know if any decisions have been made using the results search
Waiting and Waiting Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 I'm dying...someone posted in the survey that they called the same school (different program) that I am waiting to hear from and found out that they were accepted...institution thought they had already mailed out acceptance email weeks ago.

I'm seriously considering finding a group of people who applied to the same programs I did and having us all strategically call or email 1 of them and report back to the group what they were told. Somehow this has emerged as the least crazy option in my mind, haha. I definitely second this feeling of despair morphing into anger. I just wanna knooooow already! FYI: one of my friends is applying to the Psych PhD program at UMass Amherst and she hasn't heard anything back yet, either. If that's comforting at all...

I am very excited and have faith it will be a positive result Kind of what I keep convincing myself will happen with my application too. My portal is scheduled for upgrade tomorrow (whatever that means) and I have somehow manage to coerce myself into thinking surely they are going to be updating statuses when I check back even though they had the same upgrade last wek and nothing changed. I guess I'll have to wait and see what eventually becomes of the application but I'm in over my head already and any news now will just do.. Its the hope that kills.

What if I had to sell my house or something?! I would honestly be fine if the programs sent out blank emails with the subject line "Better luck next year", or "You're in, enjoy your first restful sleep in months". boats15 Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 (edited) Gahhh still no reply from MIT for MechE (masters). I see lots of acceptances and rejections posted but no email for me. I am deploying very soon which means if I don't hear very soon I will have to schedule my entire move, find a house, register for classes, etc. via satellite internet! Also not to mention I have to make travel arrangements with the military to fly out of a foreign country! I tried to explain this all to them but just got the standard "hopefully all notifications will be in by the end of March." Edited March 5, 2015 by boats15

The only thing I've waited longer for is HL3. isilya 1

sjoh197 Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 I just got an email from a poi informing me that their admissions process had just started... :/ Made ME feel a lot better, knowing that the silence wasn't because I was at the bottom of a waitlist, or worse... rejected.

Sam Houston (the one that told me I am "a good candidate for their program") is on break right now. Oklahoma State - Tulsa is on break next week (the one that told me my application was assigned to a professor for review). U of A Birmingham is on break the week after. I have no idea when these 3 schools are going to be releasing decisions. UC Davis at least promises all decisions will be released by the end of this month. They're reviewing 80+ applications in batches right now. :\

Its already in the 70s or higher down here in the south. Semester ends in less than two months. Much later and spring break would just be week between classes and finals.
