Hi everyone!

Congrats on all acceptances! Has anyone heard from Columbia or University of Michigan for their Environmental Health PhD programs?

I applied to the Columbia Environmental Health PhD. Haven't heard anything yet. What do you guys know about it?

Has anyone else heard back from UNC epi or seen anything on the portal? I keep checking but don't see anything...

Same. I have been constantly checking the portal but nothing! And when I emailed them this morning, all they said was "The applications are currently under review. We aim to notify all students in the next few weeks." Next few weeks?? March starts this week!

I emailed Jennifer Moore and that's what she told me this morning. I hope it's no later than March 1st though.

OSU- I applied to Global Health. Have you tried contacting them? They were the first school to get back to me in early February. I hope you hear from them soon!!

Still waiting on a response from:

  • UCLA: Community Health Sciences
  • Hopkins: Health, Behavior and Society
  • Columbia: Sociomedical Sciences
  • CUNY: Community, Society and Health

Did you apply to UNC?

Results so far, with most recent at top:

  • Harvard: Social and Behavioral Sciences - rejected; this one hurt because I really matched research interests w the faculty
  • University of Pittsburgh: Behavioral and Community Health Sciences - accepted and glad, but not thrilled
  • NYU: Social and Behavioral Sciences - rejected; don't care because their program is brand new and has lots of hiccups according to my advisor
  • Emory: Behavioral Sciences and Education - rejected; don't care because no faculty/research aligned anyways

In terms of funding, if one is to be working 20 hours a week as part of their PhD package, how much can one expect to earn (I'm talking ballpark here)?

One university told me that the 20h packages are fairly uniform across universities. Is this true?

Anyone have any friends currently doing PhDs?

I called Nina Kulacki last Monday and she said we would hear within 3 weeks, so I guess two more to go. Have you been in touch with anyone before submitting your application? What are your research interests (just out of curiosity :))?

I also got into University of Pittsburgh, and feel the same way. There's a really good fit with the department research interests, but not entirely fascinated with the structure of the program.

Also got rejected from NYU social and behavioral sciences.

Still waiting to hear from Sociomedical Sciences at Columbia.

What about the structure of the program turns you off? Also, which track did you apply to for Columbia? I actually like Pitt's program but I'm not sure about the location. I would also need to confirm who my POI there is because if I don't get my first choice then it wouldn't be worth it to go there...
