I am waiting for UMich, too.

I had an interview before Christmas. They said me the decision will be made by mid Jan.

I think only international students have to do interviews. And are the decisions for international students or all students?

They informed me the decisions for all applicants.

Good luck!

@meteora Nope. I used to be able to see the name of the program and all the documents I submitted with a checklist and they had all been marked as received by my program, which I called to confirm as well on the week of January 19th (the following week after I submitted my application). After that, no changes until now. When I click on the 'Grad Status App' all I see is: "Status temporarily unavailable" followed by some numbers, lots of 0s and stuff, like an error number of sorts.

I have emailed two POI and they both got back to me saying they will put in a good word with the admissions committee and that they would love to have me, which I have taken as a good sign... but it's been some weeks now and UW-Madison is my first and only option for this cycle so I am just riddled with anxiety because I want it so bad. So all information is helpful!

@Dibenzofulvene Congratulations! That's a great school!

were you in touch with the POIs before the application process too? Or did you email them after submitting your application? Just wanted to know isnt it risky to do do after putting up the formal application...

I don't think it's risky to contact a PI after submitting an application as long as you had some sort of contact with them prior to submitting an app. Worst case they just don't respond to you. Best case they see your name, respond, and take an extra look at your file.

Thank you. Yes, if you have already had a contact with them prior to submission too it is alright.

I received an email a few weeks ago from faculty member asking me to apply. Scared the crap out of me when I saw the header and the first few lines talking about how I should have received and email from him a few weeks earlier. I first thought it was a letter from a POI in a different institution. Eventually decided not to apply.

Emotions run way too high right now and should not be messed with.

What are you studying, NoMoreOrgo, if you don't mind me asking? I'm at Purdue, and we have a little regional inorganic conference with ND and IU, and there are some good inorganic people at ND -- Seth Brown, especially. But I guess if you're applying to CU-Boulder then maybe you're studying P Chem ... ?

Anyway, if you're inorganic or catalysis, I would apply to Notre Dame. But that's just me.

I once helped a research group briefly with their Ni catalysis research. Never again. A really nasty experience because their stuff stained everything.

I am mostly applying for a-chem related research. However, there are a few p-chem/o-chem mixed in.

I've only heard of one person who's gotten an offer so far. Looking at the previous years it seems like they really start giving out offers around mid Jan, so I reckon people might hear next week. Same goes for Caltech, which I am also waiting for.

Hey guys, my status changed for UCI to "being reviewed." Based on past years (and this year!), it seems that means a decision will come out soon.

Some decisions will come out Friday (not Princeton - that is next week).

I just got an email from CU Boulder that said "new scholarship opportunities available" which provided links to information about a few graduate fellowships. On the portal my application is still under review by the committee. Not quite sure what this means.

I haven't seen much talk here about UNC, but I had an interview with them earlier in the week regarding analytical admissions. UNC is taking a smaller than usual class this year after state budget cuts, which I think especially affected the analytical division.

Got one of those as CS, probably getting them because we are listed as graduate students on mycuboulder. I doubt it is a sign of anything, especially since a few were for continuing students or those working on their dissertation.
