Trying to keep calm... Thank you so much for sharing! Will they make the acceptance phone calls for all the admitted students? Or will they only send emails? It seems like they only get emails in previous years. Thank you!

SSPhopeful Posted February 21, 2018 Posted February 21, 2018 @memphismocha very cool! I came here from Chicago about three years ago to help start a new school. Fingers crossed we both get to reminisce about Memphis while in Cambridge next year!
memphismocha Posted February 21, 2018 Posted February 21, 2018 @SSPhopeful Yes, hopefully so! Crossing my fingers for us both! SSPhopeful 1
sheriberi Posted February 21, 2018 Posted February 21, 2018 So, I've just been catching up on this whole thread... This is my first time posting. I'm getting really nervous, so I had to do something! I applied for the EPM program. I'm excited that maybe we won't really have to wait another month, but I'm currently living in Egypt (almost 9 years now) and it's killing me that I won't be there to get the call if they do call. Since I've been living abroad since I finished undergrad and my teaching credential, waiting for admissions decisions feels even more stressful somehow because I'm getting ready to jump back into the U.S. and academics at the same time.
Sof45 Posted February 21, 2018 Posted February 21, 2018 @sheriberi Awesome! I can imagine the wait from abroad is tricky! Did anyone else apply to the Higher Ed program? sheriberi 1

Trying to keep calm... If the information above is accurate, then the e-mail decision will come prior to 3/2. Last year a kind member (VULPIX) of this forum, and a student in HGSE had stated the following: "I don't know officially, but I believe it's definitely going to happen by the end of this week because we (the current students) were asked to make congratulatory/welcome phone calls to accepted students on March 7. And that happens *after* you have received your decision online. " Last year, the decision was delivered on 3/3, and calls were made on 3/7. Therefore if the information about calls being made on 3/2 is to be believed, the decision should come prior, perhaps as early as Wednesday. But this is all conjecture. It is fact that decisions for the past four years have been delivered on the first Friday of March, so maybe it will be 3/2. The key here is the accuracy of 3/2 being the "call day".
brainman1130 Posted February 22, 2018 Posted February 22, 2018 @NorthStar Is this for masters students? Or just a specific program(s)?

Oomiak Posted February 22, 2018 Posted February 22, 2018 I joined to say the details of this investigation are making me giggle (in a nice way). Also very helpful as I join the choir of excited anticipation!!! Good luck, everyone! SSPhopeful and sheriberi 2

Nonetheless, this is what the current student told me verbatim :"I’m pretty sure decisions are going out Friday, March 2nd since they’ve asked current students to make phone calls to accepted students that evening."

I should have state "she/he", instead of "he". Thanks for further clarification. I also feel it will be 3/2 based on the past four years. Nevertheless, last year, the calls from current students were made several days after decisions had been sent via e-mail. This is why the information is a bit confusing. Oh well, we will see.........

imagical Posted February 23, 2018 Posted February 23, 2018 Hi all! Crossing my fingers for all Master's applicants as they await the admissions decisions. I found out a couple of weeks ago that I was admitted to the PhD programme for HDLT at HGSE, and could not be more excited about it! It was the only programme to which I applied because I just felt it was such a good fit, so I know how you all must be feeling as you anticipate hearing from HGSE Having gone through this just a couple of weeks ago, I have one piece of advice about the waiting process. I totally understand that you all want to hear as soon as possible and so are trying to figure out when you might hear based on previous years and on conjecture from others who might be more 'in the know'. I echo @PremLeague's previous sentiments, though, about waiting to hear info directly from HGSE. I am obviously now thrilled to have been admitted to the PhD programme, but I had totally written off my admission because in previous years they seemed to make all phone calls on the same day (usually a Tuesday or Wednesday in early February) and only 6 or 7 people tend to post acceptances on Gradcafe. Following this pattern, when people started posting on Tuesday 6th Feb that they had heard from HGSE, I lost all hope, and by Wednesday evening when there were 5 or 6 posts in the results page I had shut myself in my room and starting making alternative arrangements for the future with my boyfriend. This then all resulted in a rather awkward conversation when I got a phone call from HGSE the next day (just before 9am EST, during my lunch break here) to say they were making me an offer of admission! All I'm saying is I completely understand how much you all want this and how impatient you're all becoming as the admissions decisions are approaching, but my advice would be to wait until you've heard anything either way from Harvard directly before drawing conclusions about your admission status, just for your own emotional and mental wellbeing! I could have saved myself some difficult conversations and a very miserable Wednesday evening had I heeded my own advice... Good luck to you all as you approach this exciting time, and hope to see you all in Cambridge next year PremLeague, mjsmith, sheriberi and 2 others 1 4
Sof45 Posted February 23, 2018 Posted February 23, 2018 (edited) A current student mentioned that the Admissions office are preparing to send out admissions decisions NEXT WEEK. Current students who are being paired as a buddy with admitted students have been instructed to send their info (unknown what the info is) by March 1. I don't know anything else. No indication of the officially date the decisions will be sent out. It seems from other sources on this chain (@jsk32155) that we can assume March 2 will be the day. Perhaps before 5pm as current students are scheduled to call the admitted EPM students. Edited February 23, 2018 by Sof45 sheriberi 1
