Columbia MSW Applicants (Fall 2018)

For everyone who has been accepted, how long did they give you to decide?

I left my phone when I left my apartment earlier in the hopes that I'd return to an email at 5, but no such luck...the wait is K I L L I N G me

We’ve gotta be the most impatient but supportative group yet haha. I wonder what the future applicants are going to think of us!

I really hope this is THE week for us. Good luck everyone! I HOPE TO SEE YOU IN NY EITHER WAY. (PS. Should we start a MSW NY thread? To stay connected? Columbia, NYU, Hunter (and the other NY MSW) folks?

Just a little insight that I thought I'd share. I have a friend who is at Columbia right now. She said that two of the four or five faculty that review applications quit (I don't know when), and that is why it is taking longer than usual to review the applications. They are short handed.

That explains a lot! That must be tough getting through all of these with just two people.

Other people are still waiting on a decision from Columbia right? I've heard back from NYU and Fordham, so I'm just waiting to hear back from Columbia.

Wow! Thanks for the information. I’m sure a bunch of us would go help them read apps ?

I just got off the phone with the director of admissions and he said priority deadline applications should hear by the end of this week or next week....another later date, but hopefully we will hear sooner than that!

They give you four weeks to the date of the letter to notify them of your decision!

Many of us who applied in November still haven't heard. I wouldn't worry that you haven't heard yet, but unfortunately it might mean you have a while until you know :/

I submitted my application on Dec 1st 2017, but my application completed on Jan 1st 2018 because of the transcript. But I haven't heard from them yet.. Does it mean I am more likely to get rejected?

If we aren’t notified today or tomorrow...hopefully next week???? I can’t see it being any later than that for them to release more decisions.

True, and i feel like most of the people who got in received the email around 5:00PM from Columbia. I am dying..

Every day at 5pm I hold my breath and refresh the email...but nothing comes. The website says on or around March 1st so I'm feeling especially nervous today...let's hope that today is our day!!

I got accepted yesterday! I got an email around 4:30 (I live in Houston). I applied in November! Best of luck to everyone!!

I got my email yesterday too around 5:30 NYC time! So surreal that it finally happened lol!
