  1. What to wear. I'm a dude - take that into consideration. Business Cas---------------- Shoes: Suede dress shoes (sort of an orangeish brown - maybe the color of a camel) Slacks: Hunter Green Corduroys Shirt: Purple sweater accessories: my smile --------------------- Dressier---------------- Shoes: Same ol suede dress shoes Slacks: light brown tweed - subtle teal highlights (prince of wales check) Shirt: some sort of dress shirt. I have some wonderful colors to pick from Accessories: Bow Tie(see my user name - usually simple such as plain slate colored) -------------------------------------------------------------
  2. Being left on the side of the road by your girlfriend for what you insist was only "playful flirting". ETA: now ex-girlfriend.
  3. Well. I'll make an assumption: if given the choice between water or tea - you'd pick water. So when comparing the two - What specific flavors or "mouth-feels" do you not like about the teas you have tried? I ask because there are cool ways to address each. You can ice tea and muddle some mint and lemon in it. You can serve it warm with a splash (1.5 ounce or so) of milk. You can add honey or sugar or agave syrup or maple... whateva! you can add it. You can mix varietes. add orange zest. So is it the floralness of teas? the astringency of them? what don't you like?
  4. Why does it have to be a "he"? I'd contend that the majority of people who are employed are employed by neutral-gendered organizations. Is this a sign of inherent sexism in our society? Are your assumptions a symptom of American rhetoric? I dunno – perhaps someone should look into it… but only if they have nothing else to do with their lives. MSNBC is calling. Fox News is calling. They’re pushing all the right buttons and you’re fired up. How does that work? A long since dead centuries old poet wrote something down about society, the universe, love – all representations of what it means to be this semi-autonomous bundle of human cells and people juices. We can engage with it critically, perhaps posit how far we have or haven’t come. Or I could say that’ll look pretty in a decorative font on my wall. But what makes that font pretty? I hope boss man will pay me more for finding out.
  5. Oh, Despejado, you probably tell that to every dark-haired gentleman
  6. Y'all! Weekend came and went without a blog. Life happens. Commenting to add to the praise for tea. Iced tea with a lemon. I make it by the half gallon. Horb, what don't you like about tea?
  7. I've been told I'm in the "top-five" I blushed... I said, "you probably tell that to every darkhaired sweetheart"
  8. I'm sorry... I assume you can't see over him.
  9. So. It is decided - there is a clear need for academic "health" food blog. My post will be up by tomorrow! With pics!
  10. I didn't spell it out. but I'm weird. my rationale : they can figure out that I'm into XYZ Rhetoric and they can figure out who I'd work with. Why waste a line saying "do to my interest in post 1933 XYZ Rhetorics I imagine I'd work best with Professor McGillicuty. Professor McGillicuty's article in ABC touched on my thesis in bla bla bla." Perhaps I'd explain why their program appealed to me
  11. Update. Denied at 1 place. Accepted at 1 place (waitlisted for funding but I'll still chalk this up as an accept) Haven't heard from 3 places - but until I hear otherwise I'll assume I'm double-secret-waitlisted.
  12. Damn Purdue and their double-secret-waitlist! I just wanna know.
  13. There is some wonderful information here Is there anyone who is local who I can PM for some updated info on the city? :-D
  14. My ex is getting her grad degree at BGSU - I visted her once. From my long weekend trip I thought the place was sort of "meh". I like that they have a graveyard on campus - spooooooky! There are some interesting bars and the night life felt really really safe. There are some cool things on the main drag - some good bars and some hipster looking stores. It's a small college town and exactly what you expect a small college town to be like. I nearly applied there! So it didn't scare me off.
  15. This weekend. I'll do my first "Flavors of Rhetoric" food post. Complete with pictures!!!!
  16. Agreed. Then all us folks on wait lists can dance with glee as we get bumped up.
  17. Boo!!!! I'm sorry. I hope you have better news soon.
  18. It's certainly not to early to begin thinking about your apps. Best of luck!
