Good luck you guys!!! Keeping my fingers crossed for everyone

Alphabetically seems so plausible it's almost scary. I wonder how they determine an order…

I agree with talkitout, but I also feel you should do a lot more research. Make sure that a career in SLP is something you would be happier with. There's no use in switching if you will ultimately be unhappy with that career as well.

Good Sign, Omen or Hallucination - All Are Welcome!
SLPjmar replied to Eager's topic in Waiting it Out
Is it possible that the enrollment counselor is not aware of the deadline? It seems to me that they wouldn't have started reviewing applications if they are coming out with decisions so late. It may be either here nor there. -
I just received an e-mail from South Carolina letting me know that decisions will be made in mid-March, and we will be notified via USPS. This is going to be the longest wait ever.
-
That is, if the stats being reported are true. I see stats sometimes that truly don't make any sense to me (in my program, at least). Not all self-reported information is true, no matter how much they'd like it to be.

I just had a wave of relief wash over me. University of South Carolina still listed my application as incomplete, as it said I was missing one LOR. I had sent that particular letter back in November, so it was really making me nervous (the deadline was February 1). I called the Graduate School and it turns out they had my letter in some file for people who never actually apply. Luckily, they will count the letter as before the deadline since it was there in November. I am so happy that I am neurotic enough to keep following up.

I was also referred to the department just a week after submitting my application. I am also hoping it is a good sign! -
It really depends on the program. I know for the program I applied for, it is a literal crapshoot. There are no interviews and even maintaining above their average GPA/GRE does not make you a "desired" applicant. I applied to schools well within my league, but with an acceptance rate of ~13% (44 applicants out of 341, for example) there is really no way of knowing. Even though I am considered a competitive applicant with my GPA/GRE, outside experience, and SOP, there is a chance I may not be accepted anywhere this cycle. Overall, I guess I am trying to say that it really differs by department and application cycle.

That's what I thought. Sometimes the results database seems to lag a little, since it is user submitted info. I read acceptances posted on Saturdays or even in the evenings, and wonder if they were delayed in posting their results.

I have had the same dream consistently, where I am rejected from every school I applied to. On the website where I can check my admissions status, I am also able to read the adcom's list of reasons I should not be admitted. It makes me cringe every time I think about it. Though the other night, I did dream that I was accepted to the most competitive program on my list. I'm hoping it's a sign. I have also dreamed that somehow I was taking a class (biology, I think) that I hadn't attended all semester. It was now time for the final and I had to take it, even though I didn't learn anything all semester. Finally, I constantly dream of losing all of my teeth. The crack and disintegrate in my mouth while I'm talking to someone and my mouth fills with blood. I know this dream is a manifestation of my anxiety and stress. Wah, I can't wait for this to all be over.

Do applicants actually hear from schools at night/on the weekend?

Sh*t people say when you are applying to grad school

I had questions similar to this with undergrad. "So did you decide to go here because your boyfriend went here?" Well gee, I never knew that he was the determining factor in all of my decisions. Not, y'know, the academic programs or anything like that. -
According to the results search page, I can assume I won't start hearing back until the first week of March.

I have been doing a lot of retail therapy. I think my bank account needs a coping strategy too.

Baltimore, too! I have one almost every night. Mine are mostly rejections, some acceptances. -

I was browsing through the results search from last year and realized that one of my schools informed applicants of their decisions one year ago to the day. Cue the freaking out. Knowing that it's coming up soon has me refreshing my e-mail like a mad woman. I'm almost scared I'm going to break it...

SLP/Communication Disorders Masters Applicants

I'm assuming (though I don't know) that you accept your offer of admission if you choose to do so. All of the additional info like scheduling would be done through contact with the department. As far as financial aid goes, did you fill out your FAFSA this year? The preliminary version was due on 2/1. This partly determines the financial aid you will receive, if any. Good luck, and congrats on being accepted! -
So I just checked the results search and it seemed like applicants started hearing back from UNC-CH on February 9th last year! The bulk seemed to come around the 28th. Just freaking out a tad over here... especially since I know UNC-CH is such a long shot for me.

Congratulations everyone! I'll just continue to sit over here, refreshing my e-mail...
