It will be okay guys! I think we should all do something fun this weekend to take our minds off of it. Personally, I've started shopping a whole lot more.
I feel like this differs at every school. One of the schools I applied to waits to see who accepts, and then revisits all of the waitlisted applications at a later date. I think your best bet is to ask the department directly, so you know what to expect.
Good luck!
That's what I assume, too. Unfortunately (or fortunately?), people started hearing back from UNC-CH on February 9th last year. So now I feel like a decision is right around the corner!
It is a virtue, but rejection is cruel and people react differently. If they choose to vent on a public forum and come off a little snooty on the process… meh!
Eager. Since you are a believer of signs an omens, I wonder if you believe that everything happens for a reason. Although you were rejected from this particular institution, perhaps it was for a reason you cannot yet see. I wish you all the luck and happiness I can.
Every school has a different view on what a "good" GRE score is. Some have very specific numbers, while others just have a range. Because I don't know much about Akron, it's hard to say. I'm sure if you ask the adcom, they will let you know how to improve your application. I'm sorry for your rejection, good luck with the rest!
This happened to me yesterday. One of my recommenders refused to use an electronic system (ugh), so it all had to be done via USPS. I had his letter sent back in November, but my application wasn't processed until the beginning of January. When it had been a full month, I called to see why the letter hadn't been matched up with my application. Turns out, they put it in a file for people who send incomplete materials and never officially apply.
I am so impatient today. My undergrad institution posted a date for when they will notify all applicants. Too bad none of the schools I applied to are doing it too!
