I had yet ANOTHER nightmare about not getting in anywhere. Except this time, I could see all the reasons why they hadn't admitted me. I hope I have one night of sleep during this month.

You could always send a nicely worded e-mail letting them know how much you enjoyed your visit and appreciated their time. You can let them know you took their suggestions to heart and have started learning Somali. There are plenty of ways to let them know without seeming pushy. If you do contact them, I think being sincere about their help will only make you stand out. Good luck!

I'm not sure if it's all the time I've been spending on here, but last night I had a dream where I realized I wasn't accepted anywhere. I'm hoping it's just a manifestation of my anxiety and not an omen.

It's also pretty bad because this is one of my most loaded semesters. I'm taking: - Neurological disorders - Aural rehabilitation - Clinical and research writing - Observation techniques (requires 25 hours of observation outside of class) - Chemistry - Chemistry lab And I have no motivation to do anything. At all.

These are exactly my feelings. Plus, the majority of my cohort is applying to grad school at the same time, and it seems that none of them have this type of anxiety. If they do, they are definitely better at hiding it.

Is it a general rule that state universities admit more in-state residents?

Does anyone know if state schools are less likely to accept if you are out-of-state? I know some programs tend to favor in-state applicants, but was unsure if this was a trend amongst other state schools.

If I don't get into graduate school this application cycle, I am very much stuck. For SLP, a Master's degree is needed before working in the field. I could become a speech-aide, but that is mostly based on geographical location and finding a practicing professional who agrees to mentor me. Not getting in really isn't an option for me. I haven't really allowed myself to explore the what-if possibility because it scares me so damn much.

Why did you guys choose to apply to these certain schools? Was it cost/geographical location/reputation? Or something else?

I am also waiting on UNC and USC (as you know). I finished and submitted my application to UNC back on December 10th, so I'm really getting impatient! My deadlines were: UNC-CH: January 10th Florida State University: January 15th University of Virginia/University of South Florida/University of South Carolina: February 1st I submitted all of my applications (aside from FSU) weeks before the deadline. I'm hoping that makes some difference in when I hear back. I doubt it though
