  1. Nope...a different one. I sure can pick 'em.
  2. Dead Man
  3. I swear they try their best to make you have a heart attack when they notify you. I didn't get the significant decision made email first...I received an email from someone whose name I didn't recognize (turned out to be the graduate program director) with only "PhD Admission" in the subject. When I opened the email I saw that my POI was copied, but all that was written in the body was "See attached." I just knew it was a rejection. That was the longest opening of an email attachment in my life. Pure torture.
  4. HA!!! kckc I knew it was coming...CONGRATS!!! I'm sooooo happy for you! I'm doing somersaults (in my mind)... We're 3 for 3, guys!!!
  5. Having your boyfriend's mom tell you that you'd better hurry up and have children because "THE CLOCK'S TICKING!!!"
  6. I went all the way from submitted status to decision made status in a matter of days. Like kk said it was very fast.
  7. I went to pick him up from work and confronted him while driving. He became "ex" the minute I left him on the side of the road. Guess I'm not so forgiving after all...
  8. Hey kckc! I went from "In Review" to receiving the "Significant Decision Made" email in a very short amount of time. I'm sure your decision is coming soon!
  9. Catching your 26-year old boyfriend trying to pick up a teenage girl online.
  10. Same here...I haven't heard back from two and I haven't received my funding package from my top choice yet. I know they're working on it, but...yeah, I'm not accepting until I see it. My 2nd choice offered me a fantastic package and my friend said I could have his condo while I went to school there, so no way I'm turning that down until I'm absolutely certain about my top choice. I'm hope you find a way to make it to some of your visit days. Trying to sort everything out after receiving acceptances has presented an anxiety that I did not anticipate.
  11. I hope to come back to this thread soon and see that ALL of the McGill hopefuls have received acceptances! I think we're two for two so far.
  12. I'm sooooo glad I'm not the only one. I'm sure I'll get there and be fine, but you never know. I'm def afraid of having a "WTF" moment lol
  13. It was my pleasure . Congrats again!!!
  14. WHAAAAAT?!?!?! YAYYYYYY!!!! Congrats, kk! That's fantastic! I'm soooo happy for you. You'll have to let me know what you decide!
  15. Is anyone else having trouble pulling the trigger on an offer? I know exactly where I want to go, but I haven't accepted the offer yet. I think I'm still worried about fit, which is why I took two schools up on their offers to visit and spend some time with them before making my final decision.
  16. Sorry, LWill. The right one will come along. While I think that is total bull when it comes to relationships, I totally believe it when it comes to graduate school.
  17. I think there is something to the "sick" thing. I received my first offer, my dream offer, while I was waiting to see a doctor. One of the best things to ever happen to me was coupled with what could turn out to be one of the worst. Craziness...
  18. Painful, but true.
  19. OMG I'm so happy for you!!! That is fantastic!!! Congrats on being done with this craziness!
  20. The best way to increase your chances of being accepted is to do so well in undergrad that they'll be excited to have you join their program, regardless of any demographic factors...I would neither want to be denied nor accepted due to such considerations. That's the the only thing I would rely on.
  21. I graduated from UMD. MNIJ is right...the area around the school is not the greatest. It's actually not very nice at all. When I transfered there, I commuted from my Annapolis home until I graduated. If you don't mind a commute, there are other places you can live. My commute was about 35 minutes, which I didn't mind at all. MD/DC is a commuting area, so you're used to it if you're from here. Good luck!
