I'm sure that is fine! I'm used to shorter essays because I applied to Canadian schools last year and they all wanted 500 or less. It really depends on each school and their preferences and if they wanted shorter essays I think they would say so.

I hope this isn't true for audiology! Argh!

Oh OK, that makes me feel better! haha. Most of my schools did have 1 page or 500 word limits, though.

Ugh, me too, me too. Except I'm not even sure if I want to break up...my heart is telling me that everything is wrong and we are not compatible but it's hard to just throw 6 years down the drain...

I had a 600+ word LOI for the first school I applied to and I regret it...I think most schools like seeing 500, maximum 600, words. What do you think?

Agreed! Other than that and the slow processing time, I did like using CSDCAS.

I personally didn't like CSDCAS because 6/7 of my schools that used it required separate transcripts and supplemental application fees. I felt like it was a huge waste of money and would have rather just applied to each school individually. Oh well.

VanCitySLP: I think it will make you stand out in a good way! Not many applicants will have your background and I think admissions committees like to see diversity. You also have worked hard to prove that this is what you want to do! I was waitlisted last year at UBC and I found out at the end of March. I think they send out acceptances in mid March. I'm so nervous to hear back! Ps yes I did take the AUDI 402 course and found it hard!

It's not speech related but for a fun read I HIGHLY recommend The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern. I think I will reread To Kill a Mockingbird after reading this thread, as well.

Hi, I just wanted to suggest you check out Athabasca University in Alberta. It's an online university and I believe they offer Stats 1 and Stats 2 equivalents.

Do you know if they contacted everyone for interviews today? If I don't hear back by the end of the week I will assume I won't be getting one. Most of the schools I applied to don't do interviews (or at least they didn't state that on their website) and I'm kind of glad for it! haha.

I'm also glad someone asked! I already have a dog and I'm applying to grad school for the Fall. I'm so nervous I will have a hard time finding an apartment...it is much easier to find one with a cat. I'm also worried I won't have time to give her the attention she needs.

100% agreed! This is my third (!) time applying. I applied to the three Canadian schools that offer audiology last year (I only applied to one the previous year) and didn't get in after one waitlist. I'm hoping the American programs will be less competitive because there is just so many more of them.

The 3 year option is actually what attracted me to it in the first place! I'm from Canada and our program is only 2 years so at first the 4 years seemed daunting to me. There is also the question of cost. I think that all in all, 3 years at Pacific would work out to be about the same as 4 years elsewhere.

I actually haven't decided if I want to apply to Pacific...a part of me tells me that I should because I did bad on the quantitative GRE and they don't require the GRE. On the other hand, I applied to so many other programs that I should get in somewhere...there's also that I would have to spend the money to fly down for an interview (if I get offered one). Decisions, decisions.

I am also applying to less competitive schools for audiology! I would like to point out to any future applicants though that sometimes the higher ranked schools can be less competitive. For example, I am applying to some top 20 schools that accept over 50% of their applicants. When I first started my search, I only looked at lower ranked schools and quickly discovered that some of these are even more competitive because of location, etc! I ended up applying to a range of programs ranked #2 to not even ranked. Good luck to everyone, I'm sure we will all get in somewhere!
