  1. Downton Abbey, Call the Midwife, Orange is the New Black, House of Cards!
  2. Shopping makes me feel better although I know I should be saving whatever money I can for the fall (assuming I get in somewhere)!

  3. You just never know. I applied last year and was outright rejected at two programs that had higher acceptance rates and waitlisted at another school that only had 4-5 spots for out of province (I'm from Canada) applicants and assuming <10% chance. It just takes one acceptance. Good luck!
  4. I received two rejections yesterday within a couple of hours of each other--Iowa and Illinois! Illinois was a top choice . I received my Iowa rejection 10 minutes before my interview for NIU and did not do well. They implied that they were interviewing me because my interests didn't fit theirs. I'm assuming I'm rejected at those 3 places and another school that did interviews and did not offer me one. PRAYING that at least one of my remaining 6 schools will accept me! It is heartening to see people here that have been rejected, even to most of their schools, and been accepted. It just takes one acceptance, right?
  5. This is exactly how I feel...I think I might try and take the rest of the week off of grad cafe. We'll see how THAT goes! haha.
  6. CONGRATULATIONS to your husband! I saw you around here last year so I'm extra happy for you/him!
  7. Sigh. March has not been nice to me so far. I'm not sure if "less competitive" programs exist.
  8. Aww thank you to everyone who posted words of consolation about my interview. I guess there is no point stressing over it or being upset. I still have 7 schools to hear from (I was rejected from one today and two I'm going to assume I'm rejected from, including this one). Hopefully one day I will look back at this and laugh! Also, after mulling over it a bit, I'm starting to realize that maybe I wasn't a good fit for this school based on the interview. ETA: I just got my second (unexpected) rejection of the day, at one of my top choices so make that 6 schools to hear from.
  9. UGH. I think I have the best interview fml story yet. First...I am sitting here waiting for my host to come onto Skype and I decide to check my phone. Awaiting in my inbox is a rejection email from the University of Iowa. I mean, I knew this was coming but NICE TIMING! lol. Then, as soon as I (nervously ) log in and the interview begins, my dogs see something outside and start barking madly. I excuse myself to go and tell them to kindly shut it. As soon as I sit back down, my cochlear implant battery DIES!!!!!! Why I didn't think to check this before, don't ask me. I think overall it went pretty well, until they asked me about my GPA, which is "lower than the rest of my application would indicate" and I kind of stumbled. I gave a generic answer that I wasn't as focused as I should have been in my first and second year but really amped up my act in my 3rd and 4th year. I guess there is nothing to do but laugh and hope for other interviews/acceptances, right? Thanks, bratty dogs/dead battery.
  10. Congrats, twinguy7! That's something, especially with the high turnover of SLP acceptance offers! Granted someone will turn down their offer and someone on the wait-list, hopefully you, will get in!
  11. haha, hilarious!!! And, agreed.
  12. I probably would have mailed them an updated resume but it's so late in the application cycle .
  13. OK, I will just leave it, then. Thanks guys!
  14. Ugh somewhat off topic but I'm hoping someone can give me their perspective...I just realized today that I forgot to add a date to my resume. I had volunteered at this place in 2011 and recently went back in September 2013. I only have the old date on my resume so basically I don't get any credit for volunteering the last 6 months! What would you guys do?
  15. Okay, thanks for your replies . I actually have an interview with one of my schools tomorrow. Do you think I should email them a short thank you note and attach the resume after?
  16. Long story short, I volunteered for 6 months at this place in 2011 and recently started volunteering there again in September. I just realized that I have the old date and forgot to include the new date in my resume. This is 6 months of volunteer experience that I have no credit for! The question is, should I bother emailing the schools my updated resume seeing that it is so late in the application cycle? I've seen a number of decisions go out in the results search so obviously they are reviewing applications already. Thanks!
  17. No problem, I hope it works out for you!
  18. So excited to watch the Oscars red carpet tonight!

  19. I can assure you that when I was with my ex I could care less about what anyone else thought, especially some immature girl and her friends at the mall. All I knew was that I was lucky to score such a great person. Anyway, this thread is making my head hurt so I'm out. i wish you the best of luck in life.
  20. Your comment offended people because "attractiveness" is subjective. My ex was not the typical definition of attractive but to me he was the hottest guy on the planet because I loved other aspects of his personality. People bring more to a relationship than what they look like. That said, of course you want to be attracted to the person you are dating, and you should be. However, don't assume that just because someone may be more attractive than their partner they are "dating down".
  21. @CocoCoco, if you want, you can write the graduate school/person who signed your letter an email restating your desires to go there and any updates that you may have. I did this last year when I was wait listed and they seemed to appreciate it. It will also make you stand out from those who just stay silent!
