I don't know if anyone is interested in CIs but I decided to try bilateral CIs this summer! I was reimplanted to my left ear in 2005 when my dominant right ear (with CI) was no longer serving me adequately. I have since only used my new (left) CI. It sounds very odd, to say in the least. I can only hear a lot of static and high tones but I have hopes that my brain will get used to it again and I'll be able to use both.
Mine came true! To be honest, my plan was always to go to UBC but I never thought it would happen. I was afraid to even dream it would! I can take the Au.D. online later if I so decide . Congrats to everyone else whose dreams came true!
Ahh but the thing is that I WILL have a two week break! I'm moving to Vancouver in mid August to get settled and my program doesn't start until September. The purpose of this camping trip would be to spend time with my family before I move provinces. Hmm.
i didn't apply to Dal but when I was waitlisted last year at UBC, I sent them a letter of continued intent and update. I think it's always good to do this when you have been waitlisted because it is something not everyone does and it shows you are still (very) interested!
Ugh, my sentiments exactly. I can't stop thinking about that beautiful (red) bag! haha. I wonder how it is for laptops, though. It seems there is only one big pocket.
My friend works at Apple and he said that if a new Air comes out, it should be in the summer. He also said that they usually don't make major changes, only minor tweaks.
Ahhh, I'm excited but I'm also SO nervous! I've never been so far away from my family and I recently got out of a serious, 6 year relationship. It feels like my life has taken a completely different direction than I had ever imagined. But in a good way, of course! I agree with iPsych that I feel like I'm going to be alone and leaving everyone behind. It's going to be so strange being single in a new city and going to grad school while everyone else is getting married and having kids or starting their careers. I hope that I will fit in with my cohort and this will be the life-changing experience I've always dreamed of. I'm very fortunate in that one of my close friends and former roommates is also making the move to Vancouver so I will be living with her. Hopefully that will help ease the transition.
Same here! I really wanted a messenger bag because it looks more professional (I LOOOVE the Cambridge Satchel Company bags) but I think I will have to make do with a backpack. Unless someone knows of a comfy yet stylish messenger style bag. Like you, I'm probably devoting way too much thought to this, lol.
I was accepted to my two programs on the same day, but my decision was already made by the end of the day. I'll be attending the University of British Columbia in Canada!
I applied to NIU and I wasn't impressed with them at all! They screwed up my application and I couldn't get confirmation from them that it was received until 3 weeks after the application date. They were also rude during my interview and I haven't heard anything from them since. Which is OK because I don't want to go there anyway after my experience. Maybe it was just the Au.D. department...
Hi,
I'm assuming you want a Canadian opinion! While all are good schools, I would pick McGill because you could live in Montreal (I haven't heard great things about London, Ontario), and the name is well known. Is any program offering you money? Have you visited any? Fit is another important factor.
I WISH I could quit my job and take the summer off . My family is going on a road trip to the mountains in August two weeks before I'm supposed to leave but I know I should stay and work as long as I can to save money.
AHHHH, CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!! I was on the wait list there last year so I know how exciting this is! I'm excited to meet you, too!
I asked Sue the same question and she said to just include a note in the mail with my deposit . She's incredibly nice, don't be afraid to ask her questions.
I love this! I think that I'm falling victim to this impostor syndrome because I know that most successful applicants in my field have a higher GPA than I do. But, I also will be bringing valuable personal experience and I have worked hard on other aspects of my application, including publishing my research in a major journal in my field. I need to remember this and that they accepted me for a reason!
