  1. Have you actually seen the Bric's bags in person? I really like their totes but there isn't a store where I live!
  2. Well now, I'm intrigued. haha.
  3. If anyone is looking for places to rent, look at Georgian Towers and Ocean Park Place apartments. It's a bit of a walk to the bus stop (~10 minutes) but the rent/location is better than some I've seen. ETA: I just looked and there are only 1 bedrooms listed on the site, but we got a 2 bedroom for $1680.
  4. Found my apartment in downtown Vancouver! Counting down the weeks until I can move :).

  5. I'm so bored with trying to look busy for work and seven weeks seems really far away...
  6. OMG! 5 hours total commute? That sucks .
  7. Yup! I thought that Vancouver was SUPER dog friendly but it's actually kind of hard finding a place that allows even small dogs... In other news, my roommate is visiting Vancouver this week and is hoping to sign a lease somewhere. Fingers crossed!
  8. I completely agree. I see nothing wrong with tattoos in a professional setting and it's too bad its frowned down upon in some professions. I would definitely consider getting a tattoo or two one day, although I probably wouldn't get any on my arms or legs because those are harder to cover up (I like to wear skirts or short sleeved shirts).
  9. My dog is addicted to EOS chapsticks and I'm a sucker for leaving my purse out. Dog-6, EOS-0.

  10. Are you still looking for a 1 bedroom? We found a few 2 bedrooms we are interested in but they are SO expensive! I don't want a long commute and need a pet friendly place. We are looking at $800-950 each. I don't know if this is average for Vancouver or not...
  11. ME TOO! I'll never get this chance again and didn't experiment with my look until recently (regretting this!) so why not now?
  12. Great, thanks for the advice! I think that's cool about your bank advisor--I'm not sure why tattoos and dyed hair and piercings (if it's done well) must be separate from business casual, anyway . Sayjo, I agree, it's hard to know if unnatural hair color would be acceptable at the hospitals and clinics I'll be working in (unlikely). I think I will take your advice and dye it for the first semester and play it by ear from there. Hopefully by then I'll be bored of it and won't miss it if I do end up having to dye it back.
  13. Will do, thanks!
  14. I'll be living in a very liberal city, and the university is located on a nude beach, 'nuff said . The field seems to be pretty laid back in terms of dress but I can't say I've ever seen a SLP or audiologist with colored hair.
  15. I'm thinking of adding blue streaks to my boring brown hair. Thoughts? I don't want to come across as unprofessional. I always dress in business casual (blazers, heels, dark colored bottoms) so I'm hoping it'll offset the hair. I would also keep up the color because nothing looks worse than faded hair dye. My field is professional and I will eventually be in practicums where I have to work with clients, if that helps.
  16. Cool, nice to meet you guys! I'm just starting the apartment search. I tried looking earlier this month but there wasn't much available. Starting to get a bit nervous!
  17. Has anyone checked out the Fossil men's bag section? I only had been looking at the ladies' bags and was disappointed because they were all too small or not at all practical for school. The prices are pretty reasonable, too (compared to brands like Coach, anyway!). http://www.fossil.com/en_US/shop/men/bag_styles/work_brief.html?parent_category_rn=331249&departmentCategoryId=331209
  18. Looking for a really great rain jacket! Any suggestions?

it depends on how much you want to spend: nau outdoor gear is great. So is mission workshop. If you want something less technical, just going to a department store is fine. Going to REI, if you are interested in a technical jacket is also good

Thanks! I'd want to spend around $200 and I'm a girl, so style is always a plus :). I LOVE that nau poncho, but it's sadly wayyy out of my price range!

      GeoDUDE!

sometimes you kinda find nau gear on the cheap: I got my lightbeam jacket on ebay for 75 dollars (originall priced around 200 bucks) !

  19. I really like that! I know what you mean, I probably should stay away from leather because I'm moving to a rainy climate, too. I wish international shipping wasn't SO expensive!
  20. I know! The seller is so helpful and well reviewed, too!
  21. I LOVE this bag, I'm a bit worried that it would be a bit big, though. I want to carry a 13" laptop and a couple of textbooks. I was thinking of getting either the 18" or 16" bag. Thoughts?
  22. I'm wondering how you like your bag! I'm considering getting the Chloe bag--so cute!
  23. Thank you! A part of me is wondering if it's a cop out to NOT practice audiology, the field I'm studying in grad school, for a few years after graduation? I have to wonder if it will hurt me in the long run, too. I understand that my school helps second year students find jobs upon graduation and I don't want to miss out on that assistance. I'm sure I will figure it out!
